VINTAGE THINGIE THURSDAY

Thursday is the day to show off you're vintage treasures.  Please join Suzanne @ Colorado Lady see all the other posts.

I am the one person in our extended family who people feel is a "junk collector".  Anytime anyone see's a vintage item they say "oh I bet Ann would like that!".   Well it has paid off for me numerous times.  The last two beautiful bird cages I have is because a sister or two saw one in a garage sale.  They wouldn't put them in their house but they know I will.  Should that make me feel funny or bad?  I SAY NO.

Today I am sharing a cabinet that my brother-in-law gave me about 20 years ago.  It has been in the bedroom, family room and now is in the storage area.  I really want a craft room to put this in so I can use it on a daily basis.
This is an old printers cabinet, when my brother-in-laws business was re-building, these were in the basement and they we're throwing them out.  Up came my name again "Ann" and he called me and asked if I wanted it.

Inside  of the drawers were these bolier maker plates.

Right now I keep all my handmade doilees, pillow cases, cloth napkins and tablecloths in the drawers.   I keep them wrapped in tissue so they stay clean and dust free. Don't you think it would look good sitting along side my sewing machine, cricket machine and all the trimmings. I sure do.

Have a great "VINTAGE THINGIE THURSDAY"

OMG as soon as I saw your post I skipped over your text and went right to the first photo. I just stared at the printer's cabinet- I want one so bad to store my sea glass in, you are a lucky lucky girl! It's fabulous! (of course I went back and read after- how neat that it was a freebie rescued from an undignified death at the dump!)

Oh, a friend of mine has one of these types of cabinets. She scrapbooks and has all her stuff in it.

I too am that person in my family..."Gail will want it...she likes old junque", lol.

Blessings!

that cabinet is fabulous! I love that you put old linens in it. I imagine that the printers who originally used it would chuckle at it now being filled with all sorts of dainty deliciate fancies. I am so jealous!
thanks for sharing it.

So neat that everyone knows JUST who to call when things are getting discarded! Neat printers cabinet - not often those are found in their entirety!

That is an amazing cabinet and a real piece of history. You are wise to keep your linens wrapped as the wood emits a fume that can stain. That's how alot of old quilts and quilt tops end up with those spots...stored in a cedar chest.

What an amazing storage item...I think this is a wonderful idea storing vintage linens in.....I'd say "yell my name anytime you find something that looks like junk" only.....shhhhh, don't tell them it is not junk!! Lovely post!! Have a great VTT!

Your cabinet is nice as is, but I can vision how it can look with your help. Great place for storage. Glad to see you doing so well with your blog.

Those shallow drawers would be perfect for storing patterns and supplies. No digging around looking for what you need! I can't believe anyone would throw that away.

I love this wonderful cabinet..I guess I will never understand how someone can discard such wonderful things..but for our sakes, I'm kinda proud they do. :).
Happy VTT Ann, and hope your weekend is a wonderful one.

That's a cabinet everyone should have! No more digging through high piles, everything can have it's own place. Lovely! - I'm the one in the family who gets all the fabrics my sisters don't want to keep.

Goodness - I love your printer tray cabinet! Thanks so much for sharing this. My uncle owned a print shop and as a kid I loved visiting work with him and getting the line typists to make me a metal plate of my name. You own a terrific and useful piece of furniture.

That is a fantastic cabinet, I could only dream of owning. I can think of many ways I could use a cabinet like that. What a treasure.

I love the type case! My husband is a printer and I have one drawer like that that I use for a shadow box for miniatures.
