KU JAYHAWKS BLUE

For Blue Monday I'm going to show some photos of our trip to a game on Saturday in Lawrence, Ks.
Our Jayhawks were playing and they are Crimson and BLUE.

It was chilly in the 40's and warmed up to the 50's in the afternoon.

I took some great picks of the marching band entering the stadium.

The megatron showing our mascot

Our team warming up.

Our seats on the 40yard line.

We were fortunate to have a friend invite us from church. Such a good time.

PINK SATURDAY - BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

This Saturday our Hostess with the Pink Mostess Beverly is featuring Breast Cancer Awareness.  Last year at this time I did not have a personal family member who had suffered from this terrible disease.  This last January my sister was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

Kathy had a fall down a flight of stairs and bruised her breast.  After a few months she started bleeding from that breast and went to her local doctor. Did not expect to have cancer but the doctor found a spot and was told to go to a specailist.  We all thought it was maybe a large bruize that caused the bleeding but no it was maligant cancer.

After several pictures they found cancer all the way back to the breast wall. They removed the whole breast.  After all the tests the cancer HAD NOT SPREAD TO THE LYMPH NODES!!!  No more treatment!!! She does however take a pill everyday for the next 5 years to help with the occurance of further cancer developing in the other breast!!

All we can say and its kind of wierd---but thank goodness for the fall- this way they found the lump!!!

This is my sister  Katie Bell last Christmas right before they found the cancer.

Below is a picture of one of the beautiful fountains turned pink from the Country Club Plaza in our city.

Ofcourse you find that famous pink ribbon everywhere around in October but this is just a little one I found at a fair this month.

A special cookie for all those who have faced the odds against this disease.

Nature and October

NATURE AND OCTOBER

AND

This week I am posting letters N and O.  My very favorite month of the year is October.  Nature is ablaze with all the gorgeous colors of this season.

Driving through my neighborhood this last week I took a few shots from my car.

This beautiful tree grows in a park near our home.

The mums have been so vibrant here too, these are next to my front steps to cheer me each time I enter.

And one of my favorite colors is ORANGE.

OCTOBER  always conjures up memories of goblins, pumpkins, bobbing for apples, Halloween parties, trick-or-treating, warm glazed donuts and apple cider.

Another reason to love OCTOBER, is visiting an OKTOBERFEST celebration or shopping at fall craft festivals. I had a booth in a fair last Saturday.  You can tell how much I love the color ORANGE by all the pumpkins and fall foliage on my wreaths.

Hoping you are enjoying autumn and the beautiful colors or if you happen to live in the Southern Hemisphere I hope you enjoy my October photos.

PINK SATURDAY - HOLIDAY TREASURES FESTIVAL

Pink Saturday is celebrating fall and today is autumn flowers and foilage.

I had a booth in a Holiday Treasures Festival and I had several fall burlap wreaths and fall deco mesh wreaths.

Here are some pictures of my booth.

It was one of the prettiest days in a few weeks, the weather was in the 60's and beautiful sunshine.  My sister Lori came at the beginning and sat with me most of the day.

Hope you are enjoying your PINK SATURDAY.

Blue Monday - New Library

Many of you bloggers are avid readers and I really enjoy it also.  One of my favorite things to do with my granddaughters when they have a day off is to visit the library and let them spend time just looking through all the titles and pick their books.

Last week we visited a new library in our community about 5 minutes from our house.  The community was becoming run down and they tore down an old grocery store and other buildings in need of repair and built a beautiful new complex.

This mural is painted in the entry and I thought I would share. I'm always on the hunt for blue and I thought it was a nice addition.

I could not find the artist signature or title anywhere, I would call it the love of reading around the world.

Have a great MONDAY.

ABC M is for Mansfield, Missouri

M IS FOR MANSFIELD, MISSOURI

About 17 miles from my birthplace is the little town of Mansfield, Missouri.  One of my favorite
authors Laura Ingalls Wilder along with her husband and daughter Rose lived there and this is where the Little House on the Prairie Books were written.

www.lauraingallswilderhome.com  is a wonderful place to visit and see the Rocky Ridge Farm home and other buildings belonging the family.  All of the Little House books are based on the places where she lived and grew up.

Below is the laptop writing desk that Laura's husband Almonzo built for her to use writing her books.

Here is a picture of the grounds and Museum on the farm.

ABC WEDNESDAY - L IS FOR LAUGHTER

L is for laughter.

Do you have someone in your family who has a distinctive laugh? Oh I do and you just can't help but join in!

Laughter quote "Laughter is the best medicine" is such a famous one and many people think it's from the bible but really is not.  But I really believe it's true.

Or have you been in a class or maybe a quiet time in church and someone has made you laugh and you just can't stop. I've had to get up and excuse myself because I just can't stop.  It makes your tummy hurt sometimes!!! That's really a good "bellie laugh".

Here is a picture taken years ago at my parents house and my daughter, sister and niece were making cookies in the kitchen.  The had dough everywhere!!! My daughter is now crying from laughter.

My Son and grandson Cody sharing a sweet laugh

My hubby getting kissed by my Sons Best Man at a bachelor barbeque.

I love to laugh!!! Hope you have a good laugh today.
