This Saturday our Hostess with the Pink Mostess Beverly is featuring Breast Cancer Awareness. Last year at this time I did not have a personal family member who had suffered from this terrible disease. This last January my sister was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
Kathy had a fall down a flight of stairs and bruised her breast. After a few months she started bleeding from that breast and went to her local doctor. Did not expect to have cancer but the doctor found a spot and was told to go to a specailist. We all thought it was maybe a large bruize that caused the bleeding but no it was maligant cancer.
After several pictures they found cancer all the way back to the breast wall. They removed the whole breast. After all the tests the cancer HAD NOT SPREAD TO THE LYMPH NODES!!! No more treatment!!! She does however take a pill everyday for the next 5 years to help with the occurance of further cancer developing in the other breast!!
All we can say and its kind of wierd---but thank goodness for the fall- this way they found the lump!!!
Below is a picture of one of the beautiful fountains turned pink from the Country Club Plaza in our city.
Ofcourse you find that famous pink ribbon everywhere around in October but this is just a little one I found at a fair this month.
A special cookie for all those who have faced the odds against this disease.

Hi Ann--Wow, amazingly enough, my sister was also diagnosed with BC last January and had a mastectomy! Glad your sister is doing well. My sister still has issues with draining from the surgical site. Otherwise, she's an amazing person. Take care. Happy Pink Saturday!! ~Lorraine ♥♥♥
It is hard to understand, but sometimes bad things happened for a reason. Your sister's fall probably saved her life. Yes, to answer your comment question on my blog, the paper indeed was printed in pink.
It's such a shock when a family member is involved!
Our falls are often ordained by the Lord...great story!
So happy this disease was niped.

A lovely post - and so glad that your sister's cancer was caught and her outcome has been good!
I'm so thankful for your sister's fall. My husband discovered his cancer when he went for sinus surgery years back. Thankful for that decision because it would have been undetected. At the same time, a friend's husband discovered the same cancer and he was gone in a year. Very different stories. So, yes I understand your thankfulness for the fall. I'm glad it was caught.
Hugs and blessings to you and yours and
Happy Pink Saturday!
