GI BLUES FOR BLUE MONDAY

For Blue Monday with Sally  @http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ I am featuring a patriotic theme for Memorial Day.

GI BLUES

My hubby Gary was a Sargeant in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970.  He was a mechanic on the B 52 Bombers that fought in the Viet Nam War.

Today is about honoring ALL of the brave MEN who have fought for their country and the one's who are currently serving.

Have a blessed Memorial Day!!!!!!!

Outdoor Wed.- Strawberries

Today let's show our GREEN THUMB with Susan @http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspotcom/

Bring on the strawberry shortcake, ice cream sundies, bananna splits-Do I have you hungry yet?

My strawberries are doing so well--this is what I pick this morning and there are many more on the plants to ripen.

I also picked up some annuals today.  Some wave petunias, mexican feather grass and diamond frost.  I planted just a few of the petunias in a couple of clay pots, I'll plant more tommorrow.  It was humid and 88 degrees today--just so hot.  I planted 4 new areas with gourds and after that I was really over heated.
The flower stand is an old disgarded sewing machine side that I found.

Have a great time outside with all the activities this weekend.

BLUE MONDAY WITH SALLY @http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ check out her blue's today.

While I was running errands on Saturday, I checked out to see if some building had been completed here in our town.  I knew they were building this new business in a little shopping area.

The building in the back is a 24 Hour Fitness and the new building is a Dunkin Dounuts.

SO YOU CAN GO WORK OFF YOUR BUTT FOR A FEW HOURS AND THEN DRIVE ACROSS THE PARKING LOT AND EAT A DONUT AND ADD TO YOUR BUTT IN 2 MINUTES.

Hope this added a laugh for you today.

It was definately a PINK day, pink was everywhere.
Ofcourse I'm the one in the silly glasses-what's a girls day for anyway!

I was drawn to the Vintage booth, this was the pinkest thing in the whole Expo---I would love to have it in a really girly room at my house.Isn't that the best!

Vintage Thingie Thursday-1929 Yearbook

Linking up with Suzanne @http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/ for today.

A few weeks ago when out of town I stopped at an Antique Mall I hadn't ever stopped at before.  It is about 1 hour from home.  My Sister Deb and I were browsing every booth when I came upon this old Yearbook.  Inside was all kinds of great postcards and greeting cards from 1929.  OH WHOW--this is just up my alley.
See all the great pictures.
As I was standing there looking through the pages I saw  "WYANDOTTE HIGH SCHOOL" -------that is where my hubby graduated from.  So all of these pictures took on a whole new meaning.  I did not remeber his High School Symbol was the "Quivirian" which is on the front of the yearbook.  OH JOY!!!!!

THATS NOT ALL!
Another shopper heard me say Wyandotte High School, and stopped to talk to us.  She said she graduated from Wyandotte a year after my hubby. We got to talking, she did not remember his name. BUT--they both took skating lessons from the same teacher at the same rink. She mentioned all of these rinks she competed at, I called my hubby from the store and he said he went all the same places.  My hubby also skated competively.  So they probably skated together 48 years ago!!!!!!!

I just love that this happened, what a small world we live in. The last picture of the courthouse is still in use today...
Hope you all have a wonderful time going through all those stacks of old books at your local antique store.

Outdoor Wed. Light Pole Bird Nest

Joining Susan @http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/for Outdoor Wednesday.

I was shopping at a local mall last week with my sister and niece and saw this little bluebird come out from a ledge on a lightpole.  I ALWAYS have my camera handy, so after I investigated the ledge I found a cute little bird nest .  After I started blogging I find that I am so much more aware of everything around me, nature and people. I guess it's because I document everything that I deem important or what I think any of my followers would be interested. It's a good thing.

I haven't figured out why the eggs are laying on the cement and not in the nest though.

We always have so many wasps in our yard every year and it makes it hard to relax on the deck without having to worry about them flying everywhere.  I took a chance and ordered these from the internet.
"NATURAL WASP DETERRENT"
Wasps are very territorial creatures and avoid any area where there is an existing nest.  Hanging these imiatation nests REALLY keep wasps away.  I think maybe I saw one wasp in my yard all of last summer.

I hung three in our yard, one on the garden shed and two up by the house.  Just google imitation wasp nest--they sell for around $14.95 for four.

I'm certainly enjoying time outside-hope you are too.
