Vintage Thingie Thursday-1929 Yearbook

Linking up with Suzanne @http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/ for today.

A few weeks ago when out of town I stopped at an Antique Mall I hadn't ever stopped at before.  It is about 1 hour from home.  My Sister Deb and I were browsing every booth when I came upon this old Yearbook.  Inside was all kinds of great postcards and greeting cards from 1929.  OH WHOW--this is just up my alley.
See all the great pictures.
As I was standing there looking through the pages I saw  "WYANDOTTE HIGH SCHOOL" -------that is where my hubby graduated from.  So all of these pictures took on a whole new meaning.  I did not remeber his High School Symbol was the "Quivirian" which is on the front of the yearbook.  OH JOY!!!!!

THATS NOT ALL!
Another shopper heard me say Wyandotte High School, and stopped to talk to us.  She said she graduated from Wyandotte a year after my hubby. We got to talking, she did not remember his name. BUT--they both took skating lessons from the same teacher at the same rink. She mentioned all of these rinks she competed at, I called my hubby from the store and he said he went all the same places.  My hubby also skated competively.  So they probably skated together 48 years ago!!!!!!!

I just love that this happened, what a small world we live in. The last picture of the courthouse is still in use today...
Hope you all have a wonderful time going through all those stacks of old books at your local antique store.

Ann

Ann, you had another wonderful vintage shopping day. I loved the story of the lady and your hubby schooling. Nice job.

OK I guess I need to learn a bit more about how to proof read and not just delete my comment.. :-( I loved getting to spend time running with you while in KC. You succeeded in a great find in that yearbook and the other things I won't mention, I'm sure they will turn up here in time! Wish we lived closer so we could do this more often. lv ya Sis

Great yearbook! I just love the 1920s lettering...the cards are just a wonderful added extra aren't they?

How great that it turned out to be the same High School as your husband's.

Oh my gosh, what a wonderful find! (I passed up a scrapbook at a flea market last year and have been kicking myself daily ever since, SOB!)

Happy VTT,
Sally

Just think, the original owner would probably be nearly 100 years old now.

That's the nicest thing to have happen..you begin a small chat with a stranger..and suddenly..you're not so much strangers as you thought. How wonderful that you each took the time to visit with each other.. Happy VTT.. have a lovely weekend.

That is a totally awesome find! Question, what state is it from? We have a Wyandotte Michigan (very close to where I live)

We live in Kansas, the school was named after the county.
