Plan

LETTER P

I'm not leaving on a jet plane but I am leaving on an Amtrak Superline Passenger Train..  Three of my girlfriends and I are leaving in a few days for a four day getaway to Chicago.

All the planning is done, the packing has commenced and all the pamphlets have been surveyed hundreds of times.

We are leaving from the historic Kansas City Union Station.

The platform is waiting and I'm so excited.  Staying at the Palmer Hotel and have heard about it's history as well.

Dough Board

I've been playing around with a few spring items for my dough board this past week.

Added a garden framed picture of my niece and I last year--the blue.

Added a burlap bag with small silk flowers, peat pots, green moss ball, ceramic bird statue and a garden shovel.

Another spot of  blue is my wizard of oz oil can. It is in a metal milk carrier with some yellow tulips.
\

This weekend I took a close look at my buds on my plants outside and I'm so happy that my Capalta Trees are budding.  My clematis is growing and hubby has had to mow twice in the last week. All is green and spring here.

Easter Pink and Purple

I have the Easter Baskets (buckets) done and waiting for Sunday.

This year I have a theme, we are going on a cruise  in July so a lot of the contents in the bucket is beach related. Both girls have flip flops in purple--their favorite color. Both have suntan spray, lip balm for the sun and diving goggles.  Their egg for their Easter Tree collection, a gift card for Sonic and Easter candy all in a sand bucket.

Looking forward to a great Easter Service tomorrow and a yummy family dinner!!

They Nailed It

ABC WEDNESDAY - LETTER N

We have lived in our neighborhood for 35 years and this telephone pole has been here the entire time.  When I drove by this pole I noticed ALL of the nails that have been used over the years to advertise yard sales.  Thought is was a really unique photo.

Wonder how many there are??

Main thing

We have arrived at the letter M for ABC WEDNESDAY and my entry is "THE MAIN THING".

A famous quote from Stephen Covey.

Do you struggle with keeping what is most important in your life your main focus?  I think all of us suffer somewhat with this.

And I don't think we only have one main thing either.  Our pastor has preached over the past 30 years with this emphasis.

"THE FIVE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE"

In this order:

1.  God
2.  Spouse
3.  Children/grandchildren
4.  Local church
5.  Your work/retirement

I really try to live by this and make my life mean something, not go by everyday without a purpose. I have invested many hours attending to all of these principles.

Spring Wreath

This week I made a new spring wreath for our front door. I have several burlap wreaths I have made and sometimes just redecorate for each season.

I purchased a little birdhouse for $3.00 at Dollar General and some spring sprigs and added a few stems I had already.

There are small tips of PINKS here and there.

MAY LIFE GIVE YOU THE HAPPINESS YOU GIVE OTHERS--my message to you from my little birdhouse.

Loving Cup

Today I'm sharing a Loving Cup that I purchased a few weeks ago on a bidding site on the internet.  It was badly tarnished and I secured it for $20.00

Loving Cup is a large ornamental wine vessel usually made of silver and having two handles.  Sometimes they are a large vessel given as an award for a special event.

The original meaning comes from a ceremonial drinking vessel from 1812.
At weddings people would share it and it symbolized friendship and unity.

Here is the picture of the cup when I first recieved it in the mail.

After a considerable amount of elbow grease and a container of tarnish remover, it now looks really nice.

I have seen them used several ways in decorating, using them in your studio with art brushes, in the kitchen for wooden spoons or several grouped in a beautiful display.

I added some silk hydrangeas for now but I'm sure I will end up moving it many spots in my house.

The inscription says "FAREWELL SALLY LYNDE McCORMICK, WIVES
                                                               3-68 to 11-69"
I'm not sure if it is 1968 or 1868!!

Have no earthy idea what that could be, any ideas?
