TAG TUESDAY - SCRAPBOOK AT TAG

Our challenge @http://kardkrazy.blogspot.com/ with Louise was to scrapbook a tag.  Here's what I created.

Hazel is my hubby's mom.  This picture was taken around  1912.  This  was a picture taken in a studio-standing next to a wicker chair.  The booklet is from her elementary school.  The tag is colored pink with watercolors and covered with a paper lace doily.  I layered pink glitter over the top and attached a pink ribbon.

The little booklet had to be made so small for the tag, I thought I would inlcude a copy of it for you to see.
This will go in an acestors album I am working on.

ANGELS AMONG US
MATTHEW 18:10

From the Message Bible

"Watch out that you don't treat a single one of these childlike believers arrogantly.  You realize, don't you, that their PERSONAL ANGELS are constantly in touch with my Father in heaven?"

Yes, I certainly believe that we ALL have a personal angel in our  lives today.

My Son-in-law Jeff went to college and made close friends for life.  When my daughter  Andi and Jeff got married one of these friends Darin was the best man.

About four years ago Darin developed colon cancer at the age of 37--he spent many hours on treatment--in and out of remission.  Darin waited to get married and have children. And at the time his little boy was a toddler.

A few months ago Darin lost his earthly battle and went to be with Jesus.  The last week of his life he was in Hospice House and my children went to see him.  Because they had no babysitter our granddaughters went along and waited in the waiting room

Sophie who is 8 years old (Who was healed of Cystic Fibrosis two years ago)  said this to her parents as they were entering the building:

MOMMY AND DADDY--YOU KNOW ANGELS LIVE HERE.  My daughter said ofcourse they do honey.  SHE SAID-- NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I SEE THEM EVERYWHERE. ON THE STEPS. AS THEY ENTERED THE BUILDING SHE SAID SHE SAW THEM ALL OUTSIDE EVERYONE'S ROOM!!!!!!!

My daughter was able later to relate this story to Darin's mother, wife and siblings.  What a comfort this was for them.  God chooses to use people in our lives to comfort us when we need it the most.

This is a picture of Darin's memorial book--this was taken when he was in one of his remission periods.  We was loving life and went to the top of a mountain to declare it.

Hopefully this story touches you all and reminds you that we do have angels who watch over us.

Vintage Thingie Thursday

http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/
Come and join Suzanne and post your vintage thingies today. One of my favorite parties.
Today I am sharing a photo album that my grandmother gave me.  When I started showing an interest in anything handed down by ancestors, she started giving me a few momentos.

I've had this about 25 years or so.  There is a personal note inside the album.

Have a good week.

Pink Saturday

Miss Beverly @http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/is our gracious hostess for this party each week.  Please check all of the great pinky ladies.

This week as I was  going through scrapbooks and trying to print photos off my computer, I ran across an album my sisters and I did for my Grandmother Jewell's for her  90th birthday.  She has since passed away, she was 98 when she did die.   We designed the book like quilt squares and included pictures of everyone in her family.  Here's a few that have pink.  PINK was her favorite color too.

From left to right-me,-sis Kathy, Grandma Jewell, my Mom- sitting, sis Debbie (The Paint Splash) and  sis Lori Beth.
Wasn't my Grandma a beautiful 90 year old.  She was just as pretty on the inside as she was on the outside.

Have a fantastic PINK SATURDAY

Tag Tuesday Challenge - Not on Paper

http://kardkrazy.blogspot.com/

Tag Tuesday-Not on Paper Tag

Louise challenge this week was to create a tag on any medium except the paper tag.  This is what I came up with.

I used corragated cardboard for the tag, an antique skeleton key, sheet music from an old church hymnal and words from a song.

Have a super crafting day.

Bella Nella's Summer Celebration

I'm linking up today with  Nelly @http://nellybeepaperprojects.blogspot.com/ for her Summer Celebration-Keep it going.

Hope you had a wonderful birthday Nelly---got everything you wished for.

My project reflects the Kansas Sunflower.  It grows profusely along the highways here in the midwest.  It blooms all summer long.

I used cardstock for the bottom layer.  I secured a baby wipe with glue on top of that. I used watercolors and spotted it with yellow and blue.  I found a new sunflower stamp and stamped the top with an embossing pad and then used green embossing powder for the leaves.  I also used a gold leafing pen for the flower petals.

On top I added a couple of pearl brads and used yellow fiber for a hanger.

Hope you enjoy my flowers-wish they could bloom all year long.

Blue Monday

Time to sport our Blues with Sally @smilingsally.blogspot.com.

Scenes from vacation.
The brighest blue sky I've seen in awhile. On the highway-headed to Colorado. Wide open spaces of Kansas.
An old-fashioned barbers pole in Salida.
A large metal plant container.
Here's hoping you have a wonderful week.
