This tree never needs watering, never sheds it leaves.  The tree sculpture is named "Ferment" created by Roxy Paine.  The sculptures is made of stainless steel and sits  on the lawn of the Nelson Adkins Museum  This was  another of the highlights of our fieldtrip.

It shines gloriously in the summer!!

The tree sculpture stands 56' tall.

Paine has 24 tree sculptures around the world and Kansas City is proud to have one in her own yard!!

Shuttlecock

ABC Wednesday has arrived at the letter S.  I am featuring a SHUTTLECOCK at the Nelson Adkins Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.

This is not your average shuttlecock you play with in the backyard with our badminton set.

I went on a field trip with the 6th graders of my granddaughters school.

There are four shuttlecocks on the grounds of the museum in different positions.  They are 17' 11" high and are made from aluminum and fiber reinforced plastic.

William Rockhill Nelson Gallery of Art

These were my five students.

An large view of the front of the grounds I found on the internet.

Paper Doll Quilt

I am not a quilter but my SIL happens to be.  While visiting her last month she showed me her latest project.

I had never heard of a Paper Doll Quilt but it is so darling.  The center of the quilt is the darling little girl and then there is several outfits for her that are attached with velco on the border of the quilt

What a sweet little face.

What sweet little girl wouldn't enjoy having a paper doll quilt to change clothes?

She was working on several more outfits.  When finished there will be 10 outfits to fit on the doll.

Graduation and Pink Sky

Today for PINK SATURDAY I am featuring my granddaughter who graduated from elementary school into Junior High on Friday.

This is a picture of her Kindergarten and 6th grade school picture.

She received a metal for being in the top 20% of Kansas School Testing, recognized for the honor roll this year and being President of the Student Council.

She was also in choir and they performed at the graduation. Her sister also is a member of the school chior and is in the orange top on the far left.

I feel so blessed to be apart of my grands everyday lives, to be able to attend their functions and see their accomplishments.

Driving home the other day I noticed this beautiful pink sky--God has given us so many things to be thankful for.

QUICK, QUICKER, QUICKEST

Quick is a  word meaning rapid, moving fast or doing something in a short time.

This past week on a girls trip to Chicago a friend Julie and I walked out onto the Skydeck Ledge--a glass observation deck at the Willis Tower.  103 floors up, 1451 feet high  and it was a QUICK  ride

This building used to be know as the "Sears Tower".   It is the second largest building in the USA and 8th largest in the world.

We didn't become queasy although two ladies in the group would not make the quest.

I took  lots of pictures of our trip, we spent quite awhile looking at the city from this perspective.

Pink Hawaii

Last weekend we had a RED HAT 10 year anniversary party for our chapter.  Our Queen Mother picked the theme of Hawaiian.  Here is a pic of Barb and I, I'm wearing the orchid in my hair.

We had such a fun party, I ordered my mumu from Ebay and it was an outfit made in Hawaii.

Smiles everywhere.

Lea in the middle, won the Hula contest.

Two more "Heartland Sweethearts"

Our Queen Mom's hubby was our photographer.  One of the beautiful decorated tables.

One of our members is in a Calypso Band and played for us.

We had a wonderful banquet, fun party gifts and giggles to fill hours.
