Enamel dish pan

Wanting to use items I have already to decorate for fall, I made a centerpiece for our dining room table.  I took my enamel dishpan and added a few items.

I have a vintage crockery pitcher and added some fall colored stems.  Some fall leaves and a couple of  pumpkins.

K IS FOR KUDOS

ABC WEDNESDAY - LETTER K

My word for K this week is Kudos.

Kudos is defined as glory, prestige or exceptional achievement.  Our grandson Cody attended a computer camp this summer for a week.  Cody is quite the savvy 10 year old computer wiz.  He sent us a picture of him receiving his certificate with one of his instructors.

By the end of the week he was learning to write programs with an emphasis on gaming.

KUDOS Cody!

Harvest Moon

Up in the country at my BIL farm on Wednesday, Sept 18,  I got a beautiful shot of the harvest moon.

According to internet research, the full moon is called Harvest Moon because many fruits and vegetables tend to ripen in late summer and early fall in the Northern Hemisphere.  In the days before electricity, the farmer relied on moons light to harvest crops.

Another word I found was  "full moon corn".

That song "Shine On, Shine On Harvest Moon" makes so much more sense now.

Shine on, shine on harvest moon up in the sky
I ain't had no lovin since Jan, Feb, June or July
 Snow time ain't no time
to stay outdoors and spoon
So shine on shine on
Harvest moon for me and my gal.

Amish country-America's Heartland

Just took a trip to northern Missouri to visit my BIL and SIL's.  During the afternoon the girls did some shopping while the guys worked in the barn.

Their is a large Amish community around Jamesport and Jamison and we visited a new store.

In this center they have "Oakridge Furniture".  Handmade furniture made by  the Amish are plentiful.

The waving Petunia's fill a huge planter in the front of the building--glorious in pink.

A dazzling large spool with purple petunias.

My two sister-in-laws enjoying some of the rocking chairs made my the Amish. The chairs are made from composite wood---SO COMFORTABLE.

Notice the swing on the left--we all wanted to take one home.

Don't you love this one.

They have a section of homemade quilts from local artisans for sale.

A wonderful fabric section.

All of the aprons were so pretty--are you ready for Christmas?

The front of the store displays a few examples of beautiful quilt patterns.

What a wonderful day we had, and this tag says so much. Everything made with love by hand.

J is for joyful

J IS FOR JOYFUL

This year our church choir director has decided to invite as many as want to JOIN the choir for the Christmas Celebration Program.

We have about 85 members of the choir and we are expecting about 125 extra singers. Our practices started this September.

Lots of JOLLY, JOVIAL AND JUBILANT  singing.

We were JAMMED into our choir suite, might have to find a JUMBO space before we're  done.

In Flight

LETTER I

It has been an incredibly long two days trying to get pictures of our hummingbirds in flight with my iphone!!!!!!! The situation was becoming iffy if I could get a shot. But they did come back this morning.

We have a couple of varieties of hummingbirds who have started to visit in the last month.

Doesn't this look like he's just so immensely happy to have  found the feeder.

I also snapped a shot of one of our doves in flight too.

Family United

On Sunday our church had one united service at a community theater here in our city.  Theater in the park does summer shows and is a beautiful outdoor location.  We have three services on the weekend and rarely do we  all get to worship together.

Just setting up the sound system.

A sweet friend of mine Trenea and me before we went on stage.

Another good friend of mine Nancy.

All of us on stage and some of our young ones singing along.

After the service lunch was served and a few bands played for awhile.  There were also inflatables set up for the children to play.  My husband ran the first aid station and because it was 100 degrees, we had a couple of older adults become overheated but ice and lots of water helped them out.

Looking forward to our next united service.
