Pink Saturday - New Pink Sewing Basket

Today I'm sharing a new (vintage) sewing basket I found recently.  It has a very pretty flowered top of green  leaves and pink  flowers.  

It is a beautiful wicker and the  bottom of the inside also decorated.  I really like the edge on the inside for thread.  Since I do a lot of sewing, I'm really excited to use this.

Inside it was full of thread, emboidery thread, needles, a ruler, zippers, buttons, patterns and a vintage Floral Doilies book.  Also a plastic case full of bobbins ( 20) full of thread.

I plan on re-doing my craft room, I would really like a cottage-style room.  Wouldn't this look pretty in there?  I purchased this sewing basket with all of the contents for $5.00.

Wouldn't a big overstuffed pink chair be great in there too.

Oh a girl can dream can't she?

Vintage Thingie Thursday - Postcards

A new vintage shop opened in my neighborhood a few weeks ago and ofcourse I had to stop in.  I'll be going back Sat., it's their grand opening and everything will be on sale!!!

I found a bundle of vintage postcards for 3.00.  Some of them are really neat.  Here's a few to share.

The colors in this one remind me of St. Patrick's Day.

I love the message on this one.

AND NOW

PLEASE TELL ME---WHO WOULD YOU SEND THIS TO AND WHY???????

The first two were mailed in 1910 and 1909.  The third one was NEVER mailed to anyone!! Wonder Why?

Rednesday - Red flour sack pillows

Finishing up more projects this week.

I made two 16" pillows from the latest flour sack that I purchased about a month ago.  I put a flap with buttons, so they can be laundered or changed If I want to swap them out.

This is the front and back view of both pillows.

I made more flowers with the extra fabric.

I had a manicure done last week and used the nail polish and proceedure with "shillac" polish.

After all of the sewing, scrapbooking, cutting, gluing---they are still good. I think I'm a believer!!!

PINK SATURDAY - THE BLACK (I MEAN PINK) SHEEP IN THE FAMILY

ARE YOU THE BLACK (I MEAN PINK) SHEEP IN THE FAMILY???

Each year Spring brings a promise of renewal and I have been thinking of my little sheep lately. I want to start bringing out some spring things.

 I have a family of white sheep and they are grazing in my birdcage, I also discovered they invited another sheep to join them. PINK--the pink sheep in the family

.   She's adorable and I think she fits in just fine.

As I was looking on the web for all the adorable pictures of lambs, I found this adorable poem written about lambs.  The author is Beverly Randell, who has written children's books since the 1950's.

It's a finger play for Nursery and Kindergartner's to help them understand the season of Spring.

I think this little poem is adorable for any age child.

Vintage Thingie Thursday - Shadow Box

I have a shadow box that I made several years ago of my Dad.  This hangs in the dining room over my computer.

This picture is of my Dad building a garage at our house in 1968.  He is wearing the glasses I have in the box.
Also he  used this wooden extension rule to build  the garage.

Dad was a self-taught carpenter and could really envision anything in his head and just build it. He only had an eighth grade education.  He quit to help out on the family farm at the time.  He was in the Army Air Force in Alaska and bought this letter opener when he was there.

He spent is career as an electrician and did get training for that. He partially owned the company he worked for. 

My Dad has since passed away at an early age of 69.

There is also a white hankie of his too. He always carried a hankie in his suit jacket when he went to church. BTW, I never saw him go to church without a suit on!!

I also have a billfold that he carried that actually belonged to his dad, my grandpa.  Inside there is a Christmas gift tag from my aunt.  Must have been about 1930.

This obviously is one of my favorite treasures.

Blue Monday - Pretty packaged Easter Candy bars

I found the sweetest little Easter Candy Bars at Big Lots last weekend.  The covers are so precious.  There is a little blue in each one.  Big Lots has the cutest Easter decorations this season.

 I'm certaintly looking forward to all of the pastel colors coming this Spring. These are almost to pretty to open.
