Do you remember Wendy Ward? She was the head of a charm school run by the old Montgomery Ward Departement Store. When I was 16, a friend of mine and I took this charm school course at the local store. We did local modeling and learned to be refined ladies. I think we should initiate something like this today.
I have lost my book but awhile back I found this on Ebay and snatched it up. I love all the PINK illustrations. See what you think!!
It looks like PINK has always been linked to demure women.
In the back of the book it included little cards for you to use. They reminded you to be mindful of others, do things special for friends.
I hope I am following this principles in my blogging. Have a special day dear pinkies.

OH how cool is that? I would love to browse through it.
Happy PS,

I've heard of these charm schools, but never attended one. I agree with what you said though. So few parents these days actually teach their kids manners that it would be nice to have more places like this to help them learn. Actually, every now and then in my local paper, you see a class, but they seem rather few and far between.
I'm glad you found your book to remind you of happy times in your past. Hope you are having a great Saturday.
Wow this brings back memories... I was a Wendy Ward girl too! Happy Pink Saturday!
Oh goodness...Montgomery Wards! We used to shop there a long time ago. I wasn't aware of the Wendy Ward school, however, so that was really interesting!
Thanks for sharing!

Nice post, I remember when Montgomery Wards went out of business like so many of the big dept. stores, I wasn't aware of the Charm school but think it was after my time in the age bracket, but yes the young are missing out on things of this nature, too bad. It takes a Grandma to teach some of them now. Thanks for sharing and a Happy Pink Saturday to you! Marilou
Bring charm schools back! I never went to one, perhaps that explains a lot about me LOL.
Dear Ann ~ I could think of a few young ladies that could use 'charm school'. I love your vintage book! Sweet illustrations. Happy Pink Saturday! ~Cheers
I would love to see both younger male and females attend charm school today!!! I never new MW had charm school, maybe that was only in certain areas? How fun!
Sis I remember you getting to do this. I always wished I had been able to. YOU are a refined lady and maybe that idea would work as a small group for young girls in your church? Just an idea. lv u Deb
Oh my goodness! My cousin and I went to a Wendy Ward Charm School in Fort Worth sometime in the early to mid-60s I'd say. Hadn't thought about that in YEARS! Happy Pink Saturday.
Oh gosh--does this bring back memories!!!
XO
This is preccious, and yes, it brings back LOT of memories. My daddy always called it Monkey Wards...so funny, now, but I never knew of a charm school. I remember cotillion lessons in how to dance, but that was as far as I got. Trust me, the NUNS made a lady out of me!!!! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting on my sister, Patricia. The world lost a very talented and gracious lady the day she left us.
Please let me know if you collect Wizard of Oz memorabilia...I may have a little goodie for you.

Ann, I stopped by to see how Anna was doing. I saw your prayer request at Charlotee and Ginger's blog and wondered. Blessings!
Hi, Ann... I love that! And I think it is so important to be mindful of others. That's what makes the world go round. Hope you are having a super day today and have a great week to come.
I'm trying to return to blogging if my server will cooperate.
XO,
Sheila :-)
I'm a day late but really enjoyed your pink find. Happy Pink Saturday.
I went to Wendy Ward Charm School! It was one of the best things my parents ever did for me. I learned how to put on makeup, sit, walk, stand and pick out the clothes I wanted to wear for the fashion show! What wonderful memories that I will always have. I just wish I still kept the book!
My sister went to WW Charm school and hated it. I was too young to go, but wanted to go so bad. My Mom and I would hang out at the mall while my sister was in class. We bought hot cashews at Woolworths and watched the people go by. It was great! Evey time I go on ebay I look for the pink spiral bound book. No luck so far! Thanks for the great post! What a fun memory. - Kris M.
