Kinsmen

Celebrating my KINSMEN this week on ABC WEDNESDAY for the letter K.

A Kinsmen is the dictionary is defined as blood relative, mainly male.  A Kinsman may also be someone who shares the same nationality or ethnic group.

Little pinks and blues

During Spring Break my daughter and granddaughters and I went bowling one day.  I found spots of pink for PINK SATURDAY and lots of  blue for  BLUE MONDAY.

We bought drinking mugs shaped like bowling pins.

Giving just a few hints on where to stand.

Having all kinds of giggles.

 

Notice all the bowling balls in shades of PINK!!!   And all wearing our BLUE JAYHAWK.

Birthday visit

I made a special visit to our granddaughters classroom last week to bring donuts for her birthday.  You can bring in store bought items--not home baked goods. Remember it was safe to do so when we were in elementary school? Oh well, I took Krispy Creme Donuts and they are yummy, glazed and chocolate sprinkles.

The special birthday girl was in her blue Jayhawks sweatshirt so a perfect BLUE MONDAY opportunity. She is reaching double digits this year!!!

 Here she is in the hot seat, they are singing Happy Birthday.

She chose her best friend to help pass out the treats who is wearing  BLUE STRIPES.

I is for Income Tax

Yes it's that time again and I"M deep INTO stacks of receipts, 1099's and statements. It's INCREDIBLE the amount of time it takes to gather all the INFORMATION it takes to complete your IRS  return.

I keep good records all year so I'm ready to INPUT all the data and wait for April 15th.  We will  be mailing our check because we always end up paying Uncle Sam.

I've already completed another return for a family member who appreciates all my hard work. Here's the program I use and have always had good results.

I worked as a payroll accountant for around 17 years before I retired and learned so much about how the taxes are calculated.  However I did some research on the net about the history of collecting income taxes and how it started. VERY interesting read.

Pink Fleet

I am always looking for PINK for PINK SATURDAY posts.  I will have plenty of pinks in the spring and summer but they are lean in the winter.

On a shopping trip I spotted a PINK car ahead and had to snap a shot. After looking them up I discovered the name of the company.  They are the 10/10 Taxi Cab Company, they promise to be there in 10 minutes to pick you up after you call them and charge $5.00 for the first ten miles  After that it $2.00 per mile.  They also have other colors but this color premiered in 2010.  At that time they were donating $1.00 for every fee they receive to Breast Cancer, I have not found out if they are still continuing with this promotion.

 

The same day I did some shopping at the "Dollar Store" and saw all these shelves stocked with PINK storage goodies.

I think my granddaughters picked out several for their rooms. I really think they are pretty against the green.

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY

Our feature letter today for ABC WEDNESDAY is H and I'm  HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY.


As one of my favorite people expresses weekly for all of us fans.

WHY I'M HAPPY

1.  My 4 year old sweet little great niece is out of Children's Mercy Hospital after a bout with a spider bite and  lots of infection. After 3 days of IV doses of antibiotic she is home and recovering .

2.  A dear friend of ours in home after spending a day in the ER thinking he had a stroke. They have run every test and cannot find a reason for his sudden collapse. Still being watched for any other symptoms.

3.  Warm weather is coming, the birds are chirping and I can see blue skies today.
