I is for Income Tax

Yes it's that time again and I"M deep INTO stacks of receipts, 1099's and statements. It's INCREDIBLE the amount of time it takes to gather all the INFORMATION it takes to complete your IRS  return.

I keep good records all year so I'm ready to INPUT all the data and wait for April 15th.  We will  be mailing our check because we always end up paying Uncle Sam.

I've already completed another return for a family member who appreciates all my hard work. Here's the program I use and have always had good results.

I worked as a payroll accountant for around 17 years before I retired and learned so much about how the taxes are calculated.  However I did some research on the net about the history of collecting income taxes and how it started. VERY interesting read.

We're so lucky, we get to pay income tax in two countries, but fortunately Canada and the US have a tax treaty so we don't have to pay double. But it is complicated, so we have an accountant that knows how to file returns for both countries. We could never do it for ourselves. - Mary

Luckily mine was done last Friday at one of our libraries by RSVP (retired accountants who volunteer. I always praise and thank whoever does my taxes that year. I could never delve into all that. I do well when I keep my check book in order because I have a problem with putting numbers in a different order when I transfer them.

Income tax ! Don't say it! Fortunately I have à good accountant. All the same:
I have to collect all receipts like you do, but I am saving them from the beginning of the year, like you do.
Good word for I.

I made my annual visit to my accountant last week. Happily all done. I was very prudent about records and that was a big help.

TurboTax is terrific. We have used it for 4 years now and it's less painful that doing it completely ourselves. Since we are retired it finally is easier than when we were working. Still....we are putting it off until the last days...
Good choice for the letter I, even if I don't like Income taxes...

For many years, I did my own taxes; then I used Turbo Tax for a few years...now, for the last couple years, I've used a tax guy to do my taxes...this year, he goofed and I'll be meeting with him again this afternoon...
and on another topic, I must say, Ann, that I received the nicest surprise the other day...a box came with really cool Kansas stuff in it...Thank you very much; we'll enjoy it tremendously...Judy in Michigan

This software saves me every year! I start a folder at the beginning of each tax year and then add tax-related documents throughout the year and early into the next year. By February, I have everything I need to sit down on a quiet Saturday, examine my folder and plug in the information and complete my taxes with no problem.
