New desk

G words this week - Gift, grandpa,  girls, granddaughter and great job.

Junior High students need all they can to succeed in their homework these days.  Our oldest
granddaughter wanted a desk for her room and my hubby ( her grandpa) just had to make one for her.

Being a purist in woodworking it was hard for him to paint it. Everything else he has made has been stained and buffed to a brilliance. His favorites woods being oak, walnut or mahogany. Since this was going to painted he used pine and poplar.

He used fleur-de-lis door knobs and handles, she loves New Orleans.  He also has the availability at the wood shop to do engraving so he added a cross on the drawer.

This year is going to be a good one I know--she's ready.

The recipient is on the left wearing the blue plaid shirt on her waist.

Hi Ann,

What a special desk, handmade by Grandpa! She cannot help but be bright. Isn’t it fun finding blues (like that skirt) to share?

Happy Blue Monday!

Hi Ann, The desk is so well done. Perfect for a young girl. The cross is a very special touch from her grandpa. I am sure it was made with so much love for his beautiful granddaughter. Love her photo with her 'also' pretty friend. This will be a life time treasure for her to cherish.

Hugs,
Jeanne

Wow, lucky Granddaughter.
Your Hubby does amazing work.
Hope you can visit San Francisco next year. I know you will enjoy it. Best time to go is Sept. or October...that's when "summer" decides to visit. Of course, the pundits are saying that we will have a huge El Nino this winter so who knows what the weather is going to do.
