D is for Debate-Democracy

Democracy in action - what a privilege to live in a country that still stands for freedom to choose our leader.

Debate is defined as a formal discussion on a particular topic in a public meeting or legislative assembly, in which opposing arguments are put forward.

Synonyms - discuss, dispute, discourse--what do you expect tonight in the DEBATE!!

Were  you in debate club in school? I was not being too timid at that age. Our Son however won quite a few debates!

Did you ever tell your children- It's NOT up for DEBATE.

Our modern tradition of televised presidential debates began with the John F. Kennedy and VP Richard Nixon on 9-26-1960. Are you old enough to remember watching it on television--I am and I remember it vividly!!

Does this look like your living room at the time?  Does mine.

Tonight who will impress you with STRAIGHT answers--not talk around the issues?

Let's exercise our democracy and watch, take notes, listen!!!!

I guess they are all right, but sometimes, I question the sincerity of the speakers. We are having a lot of different ones with interesting view this year. Not sure who will be the unlucky person.

Our Canadian "Leaders' Debate" was on tonight but I wanted to see the American one, too. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it, but I will tune in to Anderson Cooper later to see the highlights. I wanted to see how Trump acted.

I would be interested in seeing a debate between candidates that focused on only one or two subjects so candidates would be forced to reveal their policy plans in detail. Right now these platforms are good for sussing out personality traits, but not in depth thinking.
