Thankful

It's the time of year that is set aside to "BE THANKFUL".  But how many of us make a point to be thankful all year.

I am thankful for:
Health
Faith
Family
Freedom
My home

There are so many more but this tops my list.  We are spending the day at my sisters house with her family, another sister and brother-in-law from out of town, me and my hubby and grandchildren. We will have about 17 there.

We have really good weather for all the traveling back and forth which I am thankful for too.

This is a pumpkin with well wishes for all of my blogging friends.

Looking through my "keeps", I found this turkey card our daughter made in elementary school. This was 34 years ago, I don't think I've ever thrown out anything my children made for me!!

THANK YOU LORD FOR TURKEY

Just made my pumpkin pie for tomorrow--don't forget the whip topping!!

Prairie Fire

I had a fun time this weekend with my Red Hat Group.  We visited the American Museum of Natural History exhibits at the "Prairie Fire Museum.  It is a new facility with hands on activities for the young  ones included.

Thought this blue window was such a lovely piece of art by itself.

Had such a fun time posing with the interactive screen.

There was a very large section about mythic creatures, dragons, unicorns and mermaids.

After our tour we had lunch at "Penstripes, a restaurant which has a bowling alley and games.
We all tried our hand at Bocce.
One of my friends--an interesting game.

Had a really good time as usual with this wonderful group of ladies!!

Thanks to Sally @BLUE MONDAY for hosting each week.

"SURPRISE"

My cousin Sheila just celebrated a monumental birthday. Her husband and children threw a surprise 60th birthday party which I was able to attend.

She was really surprised which is hard to pull off.

Shedding a little tear here.

Sheila is a gem, her and her husband own at least 12 nursing home and assisted living residences. She treats the residents like family and they all love her. She is a registered nurse for her facilities and she   also owns a restaurant and grocery so she is so busy.  However this does not stop her from helping anyone in need.  Oh yes, she also has 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild!!!!

The decorations were done in a bright blue and pink.

Another sister Debbie came so I got a shot with her.

She has on blue too!!

Sheila letting my Mom know how much she appreciated her coming.

Extended family is wonderful and we do our best to get together a few times every year.

Record player

As the holidays approach I really love getting out the vintage RECORD player I bought a few years ago.  I have several 45's and a couple of Christmas albums I have kept for decades.

I found this one on ebay. I remember the first record player I received in 1957. My Mom and Dad purchased it for me and my sisters for Christmas. Along with it some records, I would love to still have it but not so fortunate.

There is no sound better than a record played with a needle. I know it's hard for the savvy tech guys but it is perfect to me!!!

I purchased this album around 1963.

Oh I love listening to this album.

I purchased these for my children in the 1970's.

Charlie Brown comes with a book and my grandchildren love reading along with it.
