A simple black dress can be classy but not fancy. I use to dress a lot fancier when I was working, in the banking industry in the 1980's it was required that we wear a dress or suit.
Years after when I was working in education we were still required to dress business casual.
Nowadays I dress up fancy on the weekends when I attend church, the rest of the time I like to be casual. Times have definitely changed in the fashion department. Don't get me started on what people wear to Walmart !!!!
Here is a picture of my Mom and Dad on their wedding day. They were married by a judge and wore dressy clothes. I "fancied" up the picture with some lace and jewels. Dad's jacket was a brown hounds tooth and Mom's suit was pink with black trim.
It does seem people's standards have diminished in the way they dress. I remember as a child when we all (the whole family) went to the grocery once a week we would wear dresses and high heels. Glad those days are gone!!

I cannot remember when I wore a dress. It must have been about 35 years ago.Now I sometimes wear a skirt, maybe two or three times.
Well thank you for your post

Indeed I am thankful the dress codes are different now. I dress up if a need arises, but prefer casual.

I dress for comfort and fortunately in Austin I can dress very casual for work. I don't mind dressing fancy now and then but I sure can't wear any high heels now, just not used to it.
Your mom and dad look fab on their wedding day!
I'm a casual guy, but I wore a Tux to work on September 11, 2002.

In India we have many festivals where we wear new & fancy clothes :)
At home I am in casuals, but like fancy clothes as the occasion demands.
Love the pic of your parents. They are a lovely couple :) Thanks for sharing.
Hi Ann. Just thought I would drop by and say hello.
I'm sure glad heels aren't the norm for the grocery store.
Our church is very casual in the Fashion department. Part of the reason is the logo is "A church for people who don't like church".
Glad it's okay to wear pants to church now.
Great post.
Hi there. I miss seeing people dress up to go to the store. What a beautiful sight. Blessings to you,

I like what you did with your parents' photo. Inspires me to do something fun with the parents' photos. The Mama has always been a fancy dresser. I am in my own but I'm a fancy "casual" kinda gal.

Sweet photo of your folks! I know my mother never wore pearls and heels while cooking! She loved slacks and wore pedal pushers too! But when it came to church on SUnday or a wedding or even a shower, we dressed to the nines! I am shocked sometime to see what people parade about it! LOL!
Please pray for my grandson Colton. He is in a very difficult situation and all we can do is pray!
Hugs and Blessings, Anne
