S IS FOR SEASON OF GIVING

This week ushers in the SEASON OF GIVING for all of us. We are toting up (or down) our Christmas decorations to get ready for all the company and gift giving.

It has been a tradition in our family to give to others in this SEASON.

There are hundreds of businesses giving turkey dinners this week--if you haven't planned on participating you should, it just makes you feel so appreciative of all that you have.

I will never forget a year when I was in my twenties, my hubby was in the Air Force and we lived away from home.  The company I was working for was going to bless a family with groceries for Thanksgiving, a tree and all the trimmings for Christmas.

I volunteered to go along and be one of the presenters.  We went to a community of native americans who lived outside the city.  They had several children and when I entered the home I was taken back. I had grown up in a middle class family, never went hungry and always had plenty of clothes to wear and  a nice bed to sleep in.

This family lived in a dwelling with a dirt floor, the children slept in cardboard boxes with some kind of bedding. When the mother accepted the food and gifts she cried and cried. I have never been the same!!!!!!!

During this SEASON--don't forget the unfortunate.

There is nothing like giving and sharing ourselves with others.
One year our granddaughters and Hubby and I helped with Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless. Their gratitude and pleasure for a good hot meal was reward enough and a great experience for the girls too.

yes, it's definitely a great time of year to think about the effects colonialism and oppression have had on the Native American community, such as the desecration of their own culture and spiritual practices. there are many initiatives this time of year to help donate heating fuel to reservations in desperate need of help. enjoy your holiday ~

Hi Ann, What a beautiful message to share this Thanksgiving holiday. We must not forget those in need and not able to have what we think as a traditional holiday. God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving.

It's a shame we don't think more of giving all year instead of just now.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you for the STORY which is both SAD and uplifting. Now that Thanksgiving is past, I'm happy to SAY that our family has been indeed fortunate. We, too, have volunteered with Meals on Wheels to do our part, SMALL as it is. Kate, ABC Team

planning a trip that can happen with inside the next year.

Do airlines let insulin needles on flights and how do
they regulate those items?.

Yesterday, while I was at work, my cousin stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it
can survive a 25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation.

My apple ipad is now broken and she has 83 views.
I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
