BIG CHIEF TABLET AND CRAYOLA CRAYONS
For the letter C today I am reminiscing about elementary school in the 1950's and 1960's. We took our granddaughters to purchase school supplies yesterday and it reminded me of elementary school. Do you ever get a box of Crayola Crayons and the smell takes you back to 3rd or 4th grade.? It does me and I love the memory.
The BIG CHIEF tablet I will never forget doing my penmanship-do you remember that?
I used to love to buy a new box of Crayola Crayons in September.
Am I sparking any memories??????
When I started 2nd grade I went to CHELSE GRADE SCHOOL.
School CLOTHES in 1959--me in 6th grade.
During the entire time I went to school, even high school, we were never allowed to wear jeans or pants.
How times have changed.

The box of crayons certainly brought back memories-but, the Big Chief tablet? That never found its way to Molokai!
You sure sparked a lot of memories for me. I remember getting my Big Chief tablet and new colors for school. I also was in school when girls could not wear pants...gee, things sure have changed!!
I couldn't wear pants in elementary school but by Junior High we could although there was still a dress code. I love big boxes of crayons and they do take me back.
There is nothing like a new box of sharp crayons!!
Never had a Big Chief tablet but coloring books and I were the best of friends.
The anticipation of some new clothes and school supplies always helped the angst of school beginning.
Oh yes times have changed so much! I do remember the Big Chief notebook, but the new box of colors were my favorite! (I've never lost my love of coloring!)
You looked cute! Crayola is our favorite brand! Catching up with ABC.

My post today was about coloring, too. I firmly believe that we are never too old to color, or to appreciate the wonder that comes with a new box of crayons. :)
I love crayola crayons. They always remind me of my childhood. How very brave of you to label your school photo with the year!

Lovely memories!Mine are different. I had been at school in Indonesia for two years before the war. During the war I was in a concentration camp. We had some scraps of papier and a pencil, but we were not allowed to get some education. Fortunately I could read.Well life is much better now, isn't it?!
Great post, and thanks for sharing
I've always had crayons, even when I had no children.

Yup; I have those same memories. Your elementary school looks like mine did back in the day. Guess they are all remodeled now!

You did indeed inspire lots of memories. Crayola Crayons were the best! Your school clothes reminded me that we also would not have dreamt of wearing pants. The skirt reminded me of the Crinolines we loved to wear, but mostly had to keep for Sunday best.
Been there and done that. Great memories.
Hello Ann, My goodness, if I had know you were so close we could have had lunch together. Next time we go to Gladstone I will let you know. I would love to meet you.
Your post sure did bring back memories for me too. I was out of high school by 1959 but the same dress code was true. You are the same age as my younger sisters. How much easier life was then in terms of less stress. Simpler without the electronics etc. we have today. I love the photo of you in the 6th grade. I really relate to those times so much.
Thank you for sharing this sweet post.
Hugs, Jeanne
Thanks for the memories. I remember wanting one of those huge boxes of Crayola crayons and having to settle for the small pack. I almost hated using them because they were so pretty, clean, and sharp.
We couldn't wear pants to school until I was a freshman in high school!!
Love this picture of you sis! Great post.
Sis I saw the book on Pintrest . You could make those handles! Just buy the hinges.
I still love a brand new box of Crayola Crayons and a fresh coloring book. Sometimes I even hide them from the kids! :)
You have sent me down memory lane! I love opening the box of crayons. So sweet! A good Catholic did not do their penmanship without their BIG Chief tablet! What memories! We only were allowed to wear jumpers and skirts. The skirts were pleated all thru my Catholic school years! Such a fun walk down memory lane with you sweet Ann!
Yep, you sparked lots of old school memories! We didn't wear pants to school either, but by our junior and senior years they let us wear them on special days, such as field trips, etc.
I've enjoyed browsing your very interesting blog!
