Newest wood projects

I finished my last wood project for woodworking class just before Christmas.  I made a shaker-style magazine rack.  I am using it in my craft room for craft books of mine.

I don't know about you but sometimes I find a good idea in one of my books and then have to look through all the booksheleves to find it.  Hopefully having a specific location will help.  We'll see.....

Also I made several sets of these wooden coasters for Christmas.  I made my sister some to give to her co-workers. And I gave a set as a door prize for my Red Hat Christmas party.  I think they would also be neat with just a woodland stamp to use in a rustic environment.

After I stamped the coasters, I covered them with a coat of light varnish to avoid the bark splitting and any drink from ruining the stamp.

Everyone seemed to really like them.  The only problem was finding branches I could cut that were straight enough and not curvy.  Our cousin has acres of land to pick from!!!!

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Happy New Year Ann! Love your shaker-styled magazine holder. You're becoming more skilled with each piece that you make. Those coasters are terrific gifts for giving. I bet everyone was thrilled that you had made them yourself!

You have been a busy bee, Ann, and I can't get over that magazine rack! You made it??? Wow! Coasters are neat, too, and they would be fun to have for a mountain house in NC. Can't wait to see any future woodworking projects. I have always wanted to work in wood and actually built some furniture in my college apartment. I did it with a hammer and nails. I had the lumber yard cut the pieces to the length I needed, and I went from there. It actually looked pretty good!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Wow I have never given woodworking a thought. Guess I just thought I could not handle the wood. That looks really smart. Blessings
