Outdoor Wednesday - Gourds

I've been away a few days for the holiday so I'm happy to be blogging again.  What does Susan have @
http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ for us all to oooh and aaaah over?

This is the first year that I have planted gourds.  Hopefully I will have several types of gourds to decorate my fall tables and to dry and make birdhouses.  I've read a lot on growing them and they need lots of space to grow upward-I planted them all against the fence so they can be tied as they grow.   They have the prettiest yellow flowers.Hopefully this fall, this is what I will have-

Our neighbors to the back of us have around seven of these bushes growing along the back of their yard.
. It's nice to have such a lovely border.
Hope you all enjoy the rest of the week-keep gardening!!

You will do well with the gourds., I understand they are not that hard to grow. The various color ones are so neat.

I'm growing gourds too, but for decorating and using for art. I started taking classes this past week. Hope yours turn out well.

How neat to have your own gourds to decorate with! I spend a fortune every Fall, buying them. Great new header on your blog, too!

You will have so much fun making the bird houses. They are related to the squash I believe and so they have a flower that looks similar.
