VINTAGE THINGIE THURSDAY 1947 Public Sale

What is everyone sharing today?  Suzanne @http//coloradolady.blogspot.com and I want to know!!!

Today I am sharing a public notice that my grandmother and grandfather posted for the sale of their farm and belongings in 1947.  This is the year I was born. Years later, because she kept everything, she made copies and had them framed for all of her grandchildren. (Around 40).

I often wonder how my grandmother felt leaving all of these belongings behind.

This was also Grandma Jewell's, a very decorative themometer in a frame. I keep this in my kitchen.

Hope you enjoy my vintage thingies today.

You know that had to be hard to say goodbye to their beloved farm, livestock, and possessions. Or maybe, given the circumstances, it was a relief? At any rate, thanks for sharing your vintage thingies. That's quite the pretty scene on that thermometer.

I have a great-great uncle also named "Marion"...which sounded more like "Mern" coming from the mouths of my southern relatives:)
Very cool "vintage thingies", Anne!

Trust me Ann, I enjoyed both of your grandmother's things. What wonderful treasure you have. I wish the other generation had done different so we could have more records and information like this. Guess they did not think of it. Super VTT post.

I don't know what the circumstances were around that farm sale, so I won't venture a comment. But the ad is family history. Happy VTT.

That must have been so very hard to sell everything and leave it behind! Breaks my heart to think of it.

Happy VTT,
Sally

What a great piece of family history...I made the pic larger so I could see and read what was for sale. I was sorta sad, looks like they needed to sell almost everything....however, that is a great piece of family history, so glad your grandma thought to keep it. Have a great VTT!

What a wonderful thing your grandma did by saving the sale info. I would have been so sad to leave my things.
