In A Pickle

I heard this phrase this morning on the radio and just thought about how many times I have said this. Have you ever RSVP'd to two events on the same day and couldn't decide which one to attend? How about been out driving-run out of gas and forgot your phone--I did that one!!! Scary for sure.

Pickle is derived from the Dutch word 'pekel' which means something piquant.  It is something spiced, salted with vinegar and used as a preservatives.

The term "in a pickle" refers to how the vegetables feel all mixed up and disorientated in the jar!!

Do you like pickled flavored food? I tried pickle flavored sunflowers last summer and could not eat but one!

I did however seen this on google today, might go try a bag.

Kosher Dill, Genuine Dill, Sweet or Bread & Butter--what's your preference???????

I liked sweet pickles when I was a kid. Can't recall the last time I ate some. I've been eating dill mainly since that's what the Husband likes to buy. Just realized that the pickle is another food that I don't know I like until I eat it. That's a pickle of a story, perhaps. :-)

Indeed... pekel is a dutch word... is a stronger version of regular salt, rarely used in food though... its mostly used to throw on the streets when it has frozen or if there lies snow

Have a wonderful ABC-day / - week

I get myself into a Pickle many times too. I never thought about why I say that before....good choice for P.
I do love dill pickles the best, and have had pickle flavored potato chips before. I really like them. They kind of remind me of salt and vinegar chips. Makes my mouth water...

Popcorn in a pickle, funny, I'd like to try those. . It's a marvellously old fashioned phrase, of course when we refer to pickles it's pickled onions and you definitely would be in a pickle if you fell into a vat of that.
