Xyst is a long portico usually found in Greece for athletics OR a long covered garden walk.
Last year on a tour of the Kansas City Museum I photographed the lovely gardens. This XYST is covered with vines, however the Wisteria was not in bloom at the time.

Oh, I would love one of those in my garden - but on a smaller scale.
That's beautiful! And I learned a new word.

Lovely, lovely and now I've learned a new word.
Cool, I learned a new word. The xyst looks very welcoming!
Greenery and the shadows...eye feasting capture!
Wonderful shots of the garden.
A beautiful new word! It must be wonderfu l to have a large garden with a " xyst ". in Greece, where the sun shines every day.
Have a great and sunny day!

I love zysts! Always make me feel charmed.
Brilliant post Ann,
now I have a new word for my Scrabble addiction... thoughts of Greece and the islands scented with herbs...too many to list.

I love this word ... and long garden walks ... and the way you have captured its beauty!
That one is brilliant, Ann! I saw the "xyst" word among the ones at the unusual word site that I like to frequent and thought then that it would make an interesting post. All the better when you have your own photo (and memories) to go with the word. And as you say the columns are significant.
Love this view
So many new words you learn through a blog hop!! Very nice, I had no idea about a Xyst not about the one that I chose to write on.
