There was a Christmas parade and the Coca Cola Bear was their with their truck all decorated.

My grandson and I had our picture taken with the Bear.

Everything was magical!

Mantel in blue

Finished decorating my mantel for Christmas and thought Mary looked beautiful for Blue Monday. We are leaving for our Son's for thanksgiving and will not be back until December so I wanted to have everything decorated when we return.

Mary and Baby Jesus  is adorned with a large silver star and lots of beautiful silver tulling and white lights.

Wishing all my facebook friends a safe and peaceful Thanksgiving!!!

Christmas Vintage

I've been Christmas decorating this week and I wanted to use some red items I already own this year.
I purchased this red sifter at a garage sale this last summer and I love the shape its in.

Since it's in the kitchen, I added some of my grandchildren's ornaments from past years that are gingerbread cookies.

S is for SERVICE

ABC Wednesdays letter is S this week.

This is the SEASON for SERVICE.  How do you SERVE others?

Our church foyer yesterday had a display of some of the items we have donated for Thanksgiving for needy families.

We also have a coat drive where we donate good used or new coats, hats, and gloves. We don't ask any questions of the people who come in for help, they just receive a sack full of all the makings for a nice dinner plus a frozen turkey.

SERVICE to others should be an attitude of our hearts and we should do this year round, but it is so nice to do this at this time of year when so many people feel lonely or inadequate when it comes to having a nice dinner for their family.

If you don't have a project going for this SEASON, consider doing something----it will be so rewarding.

Ryukyu Studio in BLUE

This studio is in our neighborhood and on the way home from church today I snapped a few pictures. I knew it was martial arts but I had to do some research to learn about Ryukyu.

Ryukyu was an independent kingdom which ruled the Ryukyu Islands from 15th to the 19th Century.
Ryukyu is now part of Okinawa.

This was their flag until 1875, the same symbol on the studio.

According to their website, they teach Judo, Jui-jitsu, Karate, Kung Fu and Kabudo.  They also teach total health and strength for the person who just wants to improve their quality of life.

The building really stands out in this vibrant blue along side brick and tan buildings.

Special pinks

I caught a darling picture of my granddaughter in the hall of her school at a violin concert a few weeks ago.

My granddaughter is the one carrying her violin.  I think that pink is a really popular color with girls her age.

Here she is talking to her "best friend" about all the important things in their lives.

I love getting shots that are not posed for don't you.

Remember where you were?

R IS FOR REMEMBER
50 YEARS

In the past few weeks there has been so many television specials and documentaries on the assignation of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.

I will forever remember Jackie's  beautiful pink suit and pillbox hat. In a documentary I learned that the pink suit is encased in an acid free container in the National Archives. It is blocked from public view in a windowless room, the suit was never cleaned.

.We just watched "Killing Kennedy" the movie adaptation of the book by Bill O'Reilly. It was really a good movie and the casting was superb.

REMEMBER where you were when you heard the news?  I was sitting in 5th hour dramatics class in my junior year of high school.

Another thing that I will always remember was the clanking sound of the horses hoofs on the street as the casket carried the beloved President.  Three days of mourning for America to pray for the country and the family.

May we always REMEMBER Camelot!!

Quagmire

Todays letter is "Q", a word I was not too familiar with is QUAGMIRE.

There are two main definitions:

1.  An area of miry or boggy ground who's surface yields under tred.

2.  A difficult or precarious situation, a predicament .

An awkward, complex or embarrassing situation.

I usually do not comment on political situations but so many of us Americans feel they are walking on marshy ground with the Health-Care Program.

I have seen interviews where families premiums will be so high they cannot continue to keep their coverage and they are going to be subject to a HUGE penalty from the IRS no less.

Some of my family are being penalized fees because their spouse decides to go onto their policies. It just doesn't make sense.

We are on medicare and that whole program is going to change so we don't know what will happen in the future.  In the last few months, I have been denied tests that needed to run but  Medicare said I was not a candidate for the test even though my doctor said it was necessary!!

 It is SO CONFUSING!!!

I feel I'm in a QUAGMIRE!!!

VINTAGE WEEKLY

With Christmas only 56 days away I thought I would share a vintage Christmas picture of me and my sisters in 1957.

I'm the one holding the bride doll, I named her Edie Bell and I still have her in my china hutch in pristine condition.

Don't you love we are all dressed in skirts and sweaters with socks and dress shoes on Christmas morning. Mom had flocked the windows with snow and we always had a real douglas fir tree.

9 - 0 Baaabeeey!

On this BLUE MONDAY I hope you will all indulge me just a bit. Our Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated in the NFL. This is the first time in 10 years and the city has a lot to cheer about.

I found this on Facebook and saw the BLUE for the Buffalo Bills so I figured I could use it for BLUE MONDAY.

Our next game we are playing the Denver Broncos and they have Peyton Manning!!!! It is going to be a huge game televised on a Sunday night. We KNOW we have a big job coming up. But any team can beat any other team on any given day.

Hoping everyone is enjoying the beginning of November. I saw today that Christmas is only 57 days away!!!

Pink Ladies

What a fun Halloween party I attended on Friday evening before Halloween.  I had planned on going but was unsure what costume to pick out.

My baby sister (yes, she always reminds me) called and said she was going as Sandy from Grease and her hubby was going as Danny.

Well what else but I pick but Rizzo!!!!

BIL wore his jeans rolled up with white socks and loafers. He had a pack of cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve of his T-shirt.

I found my black pencil skirt and pink sweater at the thrift store.  I made my black scarf and had just bought these big black sunglasses a few weeks ago.  My hair style is normally very smooth so I spent a few hours in pin curls to get it curly.

Don't you think they are a very cute Danny and Sandy.

Sister wore her jacket she bought at a costume store to work on Halloween.  She works with breast cancer patients and she said they got a kick out of the PINK jacket.

Hope you had fun at your Halloween events and fun with all the trick-or-treaters.
