Vintage Thingie Thursday - 1922 Space Heater

http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/

Linking up today with Vintage Thingie Thursday, I've had this heater in storage for ages.  I was going to use it on my sun porch originally.  We have decided to put it on our new deck when finished, we will run a gas line to it and use it on chilly nights.

The Wheeler Company who made this started in 1890 in West Virginia.  They are still in business but have expanded and merged with another company.  There is a location here in Lenexa, Kansas.

This model was patented in 1922.  The lava grates are still all in tact.  I love the claw feet, and the design of the heater.

Have a good day.

My grandparents a heater they called a space heater similar to this one. They really put out the heat.

Love the idea of using it on the deck! I would put some stone or ceramic tile under it in case it gets tipped over though. See you next week! Debbie

I love anything with claw feet. Neat heater. They used fireplaces and then old ugly oil heaters in my 1922 house(grandparents). No neat gas heaters.

What a great old heater and it's good to hear that you are going to adapt it to use. Usually when you see these, the grates are broken.
Thanks for sharing this old treasure and for visiting with me.
