http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ Hop on over to Blue Monday and Smiling Sallys and read all about our "blues" for today.
If you know anything about my blog, you know this Kansas Girl is a hugh Wizard of Oz fan.
One of the sweetest bloggers had this in her closet with no home, so she thought of me and sent it to me. He came all wrapped in pretty paper and a great bow, I plan to adorn something with later.
She put a blue bow around his neck-he really likes being with all the group.
This is from Genie @http://buttonsforbaga.blogspot.com/. Meet my Cowardly Lion:
Thank you again Genie for thinking of me. You really meet the neatest people in the blog world.
Have a wonderful "Blue Monday".

Vintage Thingie Thursday - Milk carrier
http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/
What does Suzanne have today? I wonder? I think I'll go check out all of the other blogs!!!!
Today I want to show you all a vintage metal milk carrier I bought awhile back. I'm still wanting to buy the glass milk bottles for it too.
I have decided just to use some my glass pieces I have already for now.
I have an old bottle, some small vases, an old oil lamp and and a glass grater of some sort. The owner of the shop said it was for cheese or nuts. I don't think he was sure. It has a fantastic red lid which matches the red handle on the carrier. The bottom of the jar says "Federal Tool Corp. Chicago".
I added some little Valentine red picks to spice it up for Valentines season.
Have a wonderful VINTAGE THINGIE THURSDAY.

Red Wednesday - "The Screwtape Letters"
http://suelovescherries.blogspot.com/ Sue is one amazing hostess--visit as many posts as you can today - Great Stuff.
This post is rather different for me, I usually showcase decorating tips or family pics but today I'm going to feature a book I just finished.
I really enjoy the C.S. Lewis books and movies on the "Narnia" series but have never read anything else written by him. I can't remember where I heard this but they really suggested reading "The Screwtape Letters" to really appreciate what we Christians are confronting today. This book was written in the 1940's, can you just imagine what C.S. Lewis would have thought of today's world.
In a part of the book he expressed he would never write another like this one because he was putting himself in the place of a demon who's aim was to demolish and damm every living human on the earth. It took a toll on his spirit and took a long while to totally get the character from him. It really made me realize what influences are around me.
If you love to read, pick this one up.
Have a great day.

Blue Monday - Re-use for quilted blue comforter
http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/
Miss Sally has a great place to visit on Mondays-please check out Blue Mondays if you haven't already. I didn't think I would have a post for today but my re-using juices have kicked in again.
I purchased this twin size comforter at a church rummage sale several years ago. Not because I had a use for it, I just loved the fabric.
My sunroom needs light and airy fabrics so I thought of this quilt I had stored in the "junk-over abundance-what am I ever going to use this for" room. Dosen't everyone have one of these?
I also have in my sunroom one of those easy chairs that our hubbies cannot part with. I thought WOW that would look good covering the existing fabric.
This also has a reverse side with just the stripes.
Have a wonderful week.

Vintage Thingie Thursday
http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/
What a great day to show some of those items that have been lurking around in keepsake boxes and drawers. I actually have this item sitting on a table in our sunroom.
My hubbys maternal grandparents were born in the 1890's, and this belonged to his grandpa.
This is a dual blade sharpener for a razor. The case is leather that snaps closed. The actual sharpener is silver. It's not easy getting a shot because it's so shiny.

The back lettering says
Twin Plex
Manufacturing Company
St. Louis MO
Pat May 31, 1910
As you turn the little round disks the blade goes up and down and sharpens against the rollers.
I have several items from my grandmother and my husbands grandparents, I was wondering how many of us are setting things back we use so our grandchildren and great grandchildren have a piece of us to remember. Or do we toss it out when we're done with it?
Just a thought!Ann

Organization Party
http://decoratingmytinshack.blogspot.com/
This is my first time linking up with Gail for her Organization Party 2011. I've been mighty busy decluttering this year.
I've had this item up for a few years, but thought maybe some of you snow covered and freezing bloggers would like this.
In my hall coat closet I hung this denim shoe rack above the door. It houses all our gloves, scarves, ear muffs, hats etc. This keeps me from loosing a mate to a glove and I'm always ready to meet the weather HEAD on.
We're going to get another 8" of snow tonight. OH FUN.
What a great day.

Blue Monday - New Tablerunner and spring vignette
http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ What a beautiful Blue Monday, clear skies, and up into the 30's today. Good for us!!
I have been doing some re-deorating. I created a new spring (a little early I know) vinegette. I purchased this table runner at Tuesday Morning. Love that store!!!!
It has a pale blue background and beautiful brown and white flowers in the background.
I used my vintage bread bowl and added spring touches. My vase with grass, my spring dafodill bulbs, some faux eggs and a lovely little picture from my latest swap from Oliva from Oliva's Creative Quest.
If you look close you can see the beautiful little blue flower in the picture.

If you notice I also added a cross book mark to the daffodils that remind us of Christs Resurrection!!!!
Hope you really enjoy the start to your week.

Vintage Thingie Thursday
http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/
Joining Suzanne today for Vintage Thingie Thursday.
It's a new year and I don't know about you but I feel like purging some stuff and bringing out some things I've had but don't use all the time.
I have several oil lamps belonging to my husbands Mom and I thought I would decorate with them in my dining room. I'm still trying to figure out how to place them but this is a start.
I used some vintage picture frames with pics of my Mom and my hubbys Mom and added some potpourri in a crockery bowl.
Any other ideas from you creative blogging gals?????
Have a wonderful vintage day--take a look in those attics and storage area's--there could be a vintage thingie in there.

NO TREADMILL TODAY
WHY OH WHY DIDN'T WE BUY A SNOW BLOWER AT THE END OF LAST WINTER?
AFTER I LAYERED:
1 pair of socks
grogan boots
flannel pj's
jeans
fleece shirt
stadium coat
scarf
and .... 3 pair of gloves
I helped my hubby shovel the driveway. It was 7 degrees when we went out-took 1 hour.
I think our excercise quota is filled for today.

Blue Monday
http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/
Each year our church decorates for Christmas in a big way. Our choir puts on a wonderful program-this year our stage was a winter white scene with red birds in the branches and white snow.
After the program a picture of me and my granddaughters was taken on the stage.
All three of us were in the program, it was really an enjoyable weekend for our family. My Mom and sister were here from out of town.
The real white stuff came down last night here and we are expecting 7" more by morning.
Hope you enjoy my blues today.

Pink Saturday
I am sharing a piece of sheet music that I purchased a few years ago.
The cover:
How many of us think nobody out there cares? GOD always remembers!!!!!!!!!!
I think I need to make a copy and put in my purse and on my refrigerator. Hope this helps one of you today.
Happy Pink Saturday

Outdoor Wednesday
http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/
I hope you are not tired of Christmas yet!!!!!! I'm going to share my outside lights from this Chistmas. Our house was the only one on the block to display lights-----we have for years. Maybe the others will get in the spirit next year!!!
I cannot resist using the old-fashioned bulbs around the garage doors and on the trees on the front porch, they always take me back to my childhood.
I use my vintage Snowman and put little white lights on the front yard tree. I used garland and white lights above the front door.
Last year we had 14" of snow- this year just cold!
Next year I will have a wooden Nativity Set. I plan on making that this year!!!
Hope your day is shiny and bright.

Newest wood projects
I finished my last wood project for woodworking class just before Christmas. I made a shaker-style magazine rack. I am using it in my craft room for craft books of mine.
I don't know about you but sometimes I find a good idea in one of my books and then have to look through all the booksheleves to find it. Hopefully having a specific location will help. We'll see.....
Also I made several sets of these wooden coasters for Christmas. I made my sister some to give to her co-workers. And I gave a set as a door prize for my Red Hat Christmas party. I think they would also be neat with just a woodland stamp to use in a rustic environment.
After I stamped the coasters, I covered them with a coat of light varnish to avoid the bark splitting and any drink from ruining the stamp.
Everyone seemed to really like them. The only problem was finding branches I could cut that were straight enough and not curvy. Our cousin has acres of land to pick from!!!!
Have a wonderful Tuesday.
