One of my paternal grandparents was Patrick Fletcher, we were always told he was from Ireland. After doing months of research and DNA we have discovered that his direct ancestor and my 9th great-grandfather. Moses Fletcher was one of the signers of the Mayflower Contract.
I found this graphic that shows where all of the Pilgrims originated from.
To escape religious freedom he became a passenger on the "Mayflower". It is not clear if he took his family but I do see first names of family members on the manifest but do not know if they were his family.
Like many of those first pilgrims he lost his life that first winter. Many of his children followed on additional ships in the years afterward.
Now I have a good reason to travel to this area of our country, very excited to see this in person.

What a fascinating post ~ for F ~ and wonderful information ~ thanks,
Wishing you a Happy Weekend ahead ~ ^_^
I did a lisle research once, and it is surprising what you can find. Very interesting.
My sister has done our ancestry and discovered that our line comes from one of the owners of the Mayflower! Isn't it exciting to find such connections. Maybe we're actually related in some way...

Love genealogy. My husbands ancestors (four in the family) came to America on the Winthrop Fleet, a couple of years after the Mayflower. My own maternal family put off leaving England
until 1912 - but my paternal ancestors were Empire Loyalists and came to Canada at the time of the American Revolution.
Family tree is always fun. Sometimes we get stuck in the roots :)

As kids growing up in America we always learned about the ARRIVAL of the Pilgrims, so it is nice and especially interesting to see this map of where the Pilgrims came from.
Good for you for researching your family history.
And good luck to your presently-traveling relatives.
One of my history instructors at my community college (in California), a long time ago, was Mr. Frank Fletcher. Wouldn't that be amazing if you two were related somehow? Of course, I have no idea where Mr. Fletcher is now.
