Kettle

How many of you are old enough to remember "Ma and Pa Kettle"? Or have even heard of them?

This was a series of films produced in the late 1940's and early 50's. It started out as a book (The Egg and I) written by Betty McDonald in 1945.  The story revolves around Pa played by Percy Kilbribe and Ma played by Marjorie Main.

They had 15 children and as hillbillies Pa wins a new modern home in a contest.  Fifteen films were produced and it was true cornball humor.

Well I loved it, Pa was often trying to outwit Ma which was pretty easy.  I went on Amazon today and you can order any of the DVD's or a total set. If you are tired of politics everyday by one of these and just keep laughing.

It's funny I remembered this today as I was in the kitchen looking at a vintage kettle of mine.

Shall I "put the kettle on"? and we'll have tea!!!

I'm not familiar with that show, but I may have to look it up. A good old fashioned comedy would definitely be a welcome relief from the political chaos we've been witnessing in our country. I love your vintage kettle, by the way. Peace!

It certainly rings a bell, I remember The Beverly Hillbillies.
Which was set arond a familly of Hill Billies who struck oil
on their land and made them billionaires overnight.
They moved to Beverley Hills and continued to lead their
lifestyls as before they were rich,
it was very funny, I remember dashing home from school to
watch it.
I'm just going to Google around now and find more about
The Kettles.
I love your huge blue kettle...I bet it takes some lifting
when it's full!

best wishes,
di.

The Pa & Ma Kettle movies were among my favorites as a kid. Right up there with Abbott & Costello. I especially liked the one when the Kettles went to Hawaii.
