St. Elmo was founded in 1880 as a mining town. During its heyday, the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad lines ran through St Elmo. When the mining industry shut down the town closed too.
Each time we visit our Son and family in Colorado we make a trip to St. Elmo the deserted ghost town in the mountains.
The chipmunks rule the town and there are sunflower seeds for sale to feed them.
Oh how they love posing by the outhouse sign.

I did not get a picture of the school house so I located one from Wickepedia.

Hi Ann! What a lovely story. I can amazed those chipmunks walk right up to you and eat those sunflower seeds! SO sweet!
I am always finding something good to read at your place! Thank you and have a beautiful weekend.

St. Elmo looks like a fun place to visit. I'd love to look at the junk shop.

Good morning, Ann!
So fun touring St Elmo with you and your dear family. We were in Colorado 21 years ago visiting a dear friend that move from here to there. Should I ever have the chance to go again, I will remember St Elmo.
Great pics of your family :)
What a fun place, Ann! Loved this tour!
