Pink Saturday March 13, 2010

I'm joing Beverly today at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday.  Since Pink is my favorite color I really enjoy looking at all the pink posts.

This past week I checked out the blog Chenoa @http://meanderingpearl.blogspot.com/, she has a beautiful, artistic blog-check it out.
My granddaughters were wearing a lot of pink today.

Sophie in the pink shirt and Olivia is her pink boots.
They brought me pillows from their bedroom here at our house and said "Nana post our pink pillows".  They are pretty pink so.......

Around the house this time of year I usually have some pink accents.  First of all a pretty pink candle.
Also I have a potted flower, I'm allergic to almost everything blooming so this is faux. I think it's still pretty.

Next some of my vintage pink hand stitched linens.
My Aunt Doris did this set of pillow cases  for me in the 1970's.  I love the praying hands-they are a pale shade of pink.

This is a table scarf, I don't remember when I got it but I think its really pretty.

Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday and thank you for indulging me while I show off my granddaughters.

Vintage Thingie Thursday 3/11/2010

Suzanne @ Coloradolady hosts  this fun way to show all of those treasures that have been wanting to be shared with everyone.

Today I'm sharing my most treasured item from my childhood.  In 1957 I received a bride doll for Christmas. I named her "Edie Bell" after my paternal grandmother.  I keep her in my curio cabinet behind glass so she dosen't get dirty.  I have been meaning for years to have her hair redone at the doll hospital here in town but have never done so.

This picture was taken Christmas morning with my two sisters and their gifts.  I have managed since 1957 to keep all of her accessories except her high heels. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Outdoor Wednesday March 10, 2010

Today my Outdoor Wednesday  Post is pictures of a trip I took to Wichita, KS this past Saturday.  We went to the Wichita Flower and Garden Show.  My Red Hat Group (Heartland Sweethearts) only 4 of us could make it that day, took a tour bus along with a local garden club to the show.  Most of the shots are inside BUT they are of nature.
We parked the tour bus on Cancun.K
Kansas sunflowers.

Thats me carrying the red bag.

.
The Orchids were beautiful.

Can't you imagine an outdoor wedding using this.
I think I came away with plenty of new inspiration for my gardens this year.
Hop on over to Susan @ a Southern Daydreamer to catch all the other Wednesday posts.

Blue Monday

Smiling Sally is waiting for our Blue Monday posts. Please check out Sally @ Smiling Sallys for all of the posts this week.

I would like to start with a few of my favorite pieces of pottery.  The  first is a pitcher that my mother in law gave me several years ago.  This was given to her around 1960.  She used to take care of some elderly neighbors and they really wanted to give her something for her kindness.  They gave this beautiful water pitcher.
Next, this is a bowl that  was my grandmothers, I use it probably everyday-love it.
Lastly this past weekend I went on a one-day trip to Wichita, Ks.  We visited  the Wichita Art Museum and this piece of art was in the main lobby.  It is called Confetti Chandellier. It is  hand blown glass and steel art by Dale Chiluly.  It is 12' 1" x 7' 11".  The different colors are striking.  The blue stands out beautifully.

Hope you enjoy the other posts and have a wonderful Blue Monday.

Pink Saturday March 6, 2010

Hooray!! Pink Saturday is here.  Beverly is our host at How Sweet the Sound.

Yesterday I went to an estate sale and I feel like I hit the "Pink Jackpot".  Look at all the neat stuff I bought.
This is the cutest little lamb family I have ever seen. I have been looking for lambs for a long time and they all lived together!!

Is that not the sweetest little face you have ever seen.  Those pink ears and little pink nose.

The lady who owned all of these pretty things must have been an emboiderier too, these pillow cases show off lambs too decked out in pink bows.

I'm not sure what you call the little basket but I really thought it was neat.  It was given as a birthday gift evidentally, there are several birthday messages on it.

Lastly I found a little pink dish probably made in the 1950's,  it's just the perfect shade of pink.

All of this for $17.00, that's all.

Hope you all have a wonderful PINK SATURDAY.

Vintage Thingie Thursday 3/4/10

Let's all gather up all those vintage-one of a kind things we love and post them.  I'm joing Suzannne at
Colorado Lady, won't you come along and join me.

When I was a senior in High School, Rosedale High School in Kansas City, KS  class of 1965 we had an assembly for just the "girls".   Thats when boys had NO desire to sew anything!!! I knew there was a reason I kept all this stuff.  Simplicity Pattern Company put on a fashion show with clothes made from each of the patterns.   This was the pamphlet they passed out.

I had this one (black and white polka dots)
My prom dress was like this one on the right.

Hope you enjoyed fashions from the past.
