ABC WEDNESDAY stretches our minds and keeps us studying our world. We look for ways to share knowledge and what we find INTERESTING.

I saw this picture a few weeks ago and it really INSPIRES me. We go to so much work to get a tree to grow. We are so careful where we plant it- does it have the right sun or shade, is the soil just perfect. What about climate, will it thrive?

Looks to me that an IMPELLING force just willed this tree to survive in the worst conditions.
IMAGINE what we could do with that kind of IMPULSION.

Good Samaratin

We have arrived at the letter G this week in the ABC WEDNESDAY round.  My G word is Good Samaritan.

The Good Samaritan receives it's phrase from the story that Jesus told in the gospel about the stranger laying at the side of the rode beaten and robbed and left for dead. He was passed up by a Priest and a Levite before he was helped by a Samaritan. The Samaritans were despised by the Jews at the time and it took great courage for him to approach the stranger and to aid in his situation. I'm sure many know the parable how the Samaritan  took him to a town, paid for his treatment and came back to check on him thereafter.

I have thought about this often, how would I react to such a situation. Would I cross the highway to help a stranger? I pray I would.

I have passed this Good Samaritan Ranch many times traveling to the country to see relatives. It is situated in Southern Missouri and I have often seen boys working with the horses and working the ranch.

It is such a beautiful setting, large white fence bordering the entire property. I'm so thankful there are places like this for our troubled young boys.

My sister just returned from Africa, where her and her husband spent a month working with orphans and children in need.

What can you and I do today to be that "GOOD SAMARITAN"?

Valentines

Our 10 year old granddaughter has the sweetest spirit.  She wanted her Nana and Papa to get a valentine from her.

She brought this over yesterday for us:

She is a big fan of the minions from Despicable Me.

I stopped by a "Smallcakes" today and bought my hubby a chocolate fudge cupcake!!

Letter:

Took a tip from Carol @ BIKESBIRDSNBEASTS looking for letters in your surroundings. My first attempt is the letter E in this telephone pole.

We were driving home from my Mom's home and EVENING was upon us, I took this shot of the beautiful sky.

Evening is my favorite part of the day!!!! What is yours?

Back home

We just returned from taking my Mom and Sister back to their home after three months of surgery's and therapy. They were so thankful to be back home.

We spent three days converting the rooms to handicap accessible. We de-cluttered closets and walkways so it would be more convenient for the both of them. 

My sister has lost 57 lbs so many of her clothes were donated.

I found a little speck on blue on this picture (american flag on her mailbox) so I am happy I can show you my BEAUTIFUL Mom.

We just had to tease her a little so we wrapped her in bubble wrap as were leaving to keep her from breaking anything else.

As we were going through things my Sister said take whatever I wanted and I spotted this turquoise vintage hair dryer. The shade matches my sewing room to a tee.

I feel a little BLUE today without her living with me but I know how happy she is to be back home.

Daddy-long-legs

Do bugs creep you out?  The only thing that does that to me is mice--maybe a snake.  When I was a child we had a cabin at the lake and there were plenty DADDY LONG LEGS. Every weekend we would have to sweep them out.

My younger sister calls them  LONG LEGGED DADDIES and it has stuck with us ever since. Doesn't that make you giggle!!

Some facts:

1.  They are not spiders, they are arachnids.

2.  They are  not venomous

3.  They do not produce silk--no webs.

4.  They have one pair of eyes and a fused body.

5.  There are at least 10,000 differed species of Daddy Long Legs

6.  They hang out in large clumps (this can look creepy)

7.  They live in every part of the world.

After doing some research on google I found out there are several movies made called "Daddy Long Legs.

 I also found a singing group called Daddy Long Legs. They are a group from the Vietnam and Draft era from the 1970's.

Have to admit, I had never heard of them.

Trapper

Good morning on this cold winter morning. I'ts 10 degrees and not expected to warm up much. I remembered a pic I took the day I bought my granddaughters each a trapper hat for this year.

They happen to have some blue in them and this would be a good day to wear them.

We have an army surplus store near us and you can find just about anything there!!
