Fall pink

Fall is my favorite time of year, love wearing a sweatshirt, football games and the wonderful cool air.  This is the time of the year sedum plants bloom and I have a couple in different parts of the yard.

Spent a few hours on our deck this morning enjoying the 60 degree weather and drinking coffee along with my cell phone to snap pictures.

Little sister

We are on letter L this week and I have a few sister pics to show.  My little sister Lori and I share a great relationship.  She is 14 years my younger and was my flower girl in our wedding.

She has grown up to do great things, she is a Nurse Practitioner in the cancer field. Her specialty is  Breast cancer and ministers with her healing hands to many women who are suffering this horrendous disease.

Here we are at a benefit (Treads and Threads) for Breast Cancer at the Kansas Speedway.

Along with taking care of her patients, she lectures all over the country on Breast Cancer preventative care.

 I am the lone one in white.

Lori also has 7 grandchildren, very active in our church and is a wonderful gal to share this life with.

Kettle

How many of you are old enough to remember "Ma and Pa Kettle"? Or have even heard of them?

This was a series of films produced in the late 1940's and early 50's. It started out as a book (The Egg and I) written by Betty McDonald in 1945.  The story revolves around Pa played by Percy Kilbribe and Ma played by Marjorie Main.

They had 15 children and as hillbillies Pa wins a new modern home in a contest.  Fifteen films were produced and it was true cornball humor.

Well I loved it, Pa was often trying to outwit Ma which was pretty easy.  I went on Amazon today and you can order any of the DVD's or a total set. If you are tired of politics everyday by one of these and just keep laughing.

It's funny I remembered this today as I was in the kitchen looking at a vintage kettle of mine.

Shall I "put the kettle on"? and we'll have tea!!!

Girlfriends

What would we do in this life without girlfriends to share all our experiences? I have so many of these in choir at church.

Here  are a few of us a few weeks ago after singing in one of our services.

Teri (the one with the walker) has been in grave shape for the few years. Cancer and a terrible fall off of her deck, she spent many months in the hospital. She is still fighting the cancer but was able to come this Sunday.

We all share our joys and trials and we are better for it.

My Sister and BIL took our Mom and Aunt on an Alaskan Cruise last month. My Mom (89) and my Aunt (87) had a joyful trip.

Here is a picture my sister took-don't they look fantastic for their ages!!!!!! They have always been close and actually have a home together. Their spouses were brothers and are both now gone.

Since my sister passed away last Thanksgiving my Mom has decided to enjoy this time and not dwell on her loss.  They are also going on a trip to Hawaii in January!!

Are you ready for pumpkin everything?

The store shelves are full of fall and Halloween decorations, orange and brown everywhere.

Pumpkin spice is in the lattes, ice cream and cookies. I figured I'd better kick into gear around here!!

I was totally ready to take the summer flip flop wreath down.

Intricate

Sitting on our deck having coffee this morning I spotted a couple of large spider webs. The black and white shows the INTRICATE work of Mr. Spider.

This was attached from the roof line to a patio umbrella.

He is no longer living there because it is in our walking path. Love nature but don't like the INJECTION of venom that I could walk into.
