Shuttlecock

ABC Wednesday has arrived at the letter S.  I am featuring a SHUTTLECOCK at the Nelson Adkins Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.

This is not your average shuttlecock you play with in the backyard with our badminton set.

I went on a field trip with the 6th graders of my granddaughters school.

There are four shuttlecocks on the grounds of the museum in different positions.  They are 17' 11" high and are made from aluminum and fiber reinforced plastic.

These were my five students.

An large view of the front of the grounds I found on the internet.

  1. I'd be interested to know why shuttlecocks were chosen to be outdoor art. What fun you must have had with your granddaughter and her classmates. I miss being involved like this.
