If you have been following my blog for awhile, you know that I adore vintage anything!!
Did any of you bloggers have an aluminum tree growing up in the 1950's? We did one year.
I'm featuring my Vintage Aluminum Christmas Tree and the vintage ornaments and tree topper. I purchased this several years ago, unfortunately this was not ours but purchased in an antique store.
The tree topper has the original bulb and looks lovely at night. This bird is mercury with a horsehair tail.
This was taken at Montgomery Ward store in Kansas City.

THAT brings back memories! My mother just had to have a white flocked tree one Christmas back in the late 50's and I can still smell that flocking material all these years later.
ReplyDeleteI SOOOOOOO wish I still had the aluminum tree my folks had in the 60's! And Montgomery Wards!!! I remember seeing Santa there, too - Merry Almost Christmas, Ann...Tanya
ReplyDeleteMy parents had a xmas tree just like yours! it might still be around :)

I love that winter coat in your vinatge visit to Santa - thanks for voting on my Best of Hyde DP poll.
ReplyDeleteI love your aluminum tree!!!! I wish I still had the one that's in my blog header but Dad gave our tree away in the 1980's when they weren't cool anymore. I have one in my home but it's just a repro, not a real vintage one. I love the photo with you and Santa. Did your dress have a crinolin? It looks poofed out some. I always wanted a crinolin!

I have to say that I am way more Vintage than you....
ReplyDeleteI really like the antique tree topper.
we have several of the old mercury ornaments with the horsetails. They belonged to my Mother in Law and I treasure them.
I have photos of me as a little girl with Santa - around the same vintage! Merry Christmas!

Ordinary Words...Perfect post for the letter V♫♪
ReplyDeleteWe had a small metal tree when we were in college in the early sixties. Couldn't afford anything else. But we had a great Christmas -- first Christmas in a strange country, (from England to Canada) but lots of college friends and a church that cared about students
ReplyDeleteAhhh vintage fans here we are! We had an aluminum tree long time ago at home. I like your photo with Santa. Very vintage.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what's cuter, the plaid coat you're wearing in the photo, or your socks and shoes! The picture is so sweet. And of course I love your tree! I'll be showing mine soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays,
Erica :)
That tree is really beautiful, not traditional, but not shocking neither !
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at vintage things I feel vintage myself, as I grew up with all the furniture and suff I see now in museums (or nearly) lol !
Lovely picture with Santa, Ann, - can't say we ever had an aluminum tree but yours looks quite elegant.
ReplyDeleteAnn, I love your tree and have one also! My Mom had a set of 3 plastic angels, that match the one on the top of your tree. Aren't the past Christmas memories just great? Thanks for sharing! :) Pam
ReplyDeleteVintage is great!
