Kaleidoscope

ABC Wednesday this week is on the letter K.  Kaleidoscope is defined by any complex pattern of frequency changing shapes and colors.

The name comes from Greek words - beautiful and shape. The Kaleidoscope toy was invented consisting of a tube containing mirrors of pieces of glass.

Did you have one as a child? I did and it was a favorite of mine.

As we were passing a fall garden yesterday the word Kaleidoscope came to my mind.

    Great choice for K week! And YES! I had one of those and spent hours and hours playing with it. By the way, one of the settings on my blog got switched, so you can post there now if you like. Love your gardens, too!

    A great choice, Ann! A few years ago there was a programm on internet in which we good create our own kaleidoscopes. I used that for a post with ABC on Wednesday.

    I had an unusual kaleidoscope as a kid. It wasn't brightly colored; rather, the shades were all muted and mysterious, sort of like a turn-of-the-20th-century palette. Gorgeous. I spent hours with that thing. Thanks for the reminder! Great word for K. Amy

    That was my favorite toy as a kid, too. It was a very addicting toy. I still love checking out kaleidoscopes. I think the simple ones today are rather dull in color and don't offer as many changes as ours did.

    I loved my kaleidoscope. It was so pretty the way it would make all of these colorful designs. I loved that flower garden, too.
