ABC Wednesday - T is for Tinman

T is for TINMAN in TENNIS SHOES

I have been a "Wizard of Oz" fan since childhood and have been collecting memorabilia for years.

After finding  large metal buckets my husband and I started putting together a tinman for our yard.  I found the perfect funnel for the hat and a perfect large can for his body.

We saved tin cans for a few weeks and odds and ends from the garage drawers and boxes for his mouth and eyes.

He does own an oil can! REALLY.

We also have a lion, scarecrow and toto that lives in the yard along with him.  I'm adding a few more pieces this summer.

Enjoy all the other"T's" at ABC Wednesday.

  16. Hi Ann, Your yard art Tinman is a great idea. You are very creative and clever. Whimsical and fun. You sure live up to your blog name Tin and Sparkle.

I also enjoyed your new way to trim your flower beds in your previous post. I think it is a great way to cut back on the darn old weed eating. I love the Lily. It is so pretty.

Happy days to you this week.
    Hugs, Jeanne

  19. Just down the road from me is a subdivision called Emerald City. All the streets are named from the Wizard of Oz with the main one being the Yellow Brick Rd.

I saw a whole booth full of these Tin Men made from cans at a church bazaar a few years ago. The school kids collected the cans and one of the mens clubs constructed the figurines. They were selling real well based on how many I saw being carried around.
