Vintage Frame and print

On a trip to Europe years ago we collected a book from each city.  Pisa, Italy was one of our favorites and inside the book was a small map of the city.

I have had the map in a box for years and wanted to display it somehow.  I took the small map and had it enlarged.

One of my favorite vintage window frames was not being used so I thought it would make a great picture frame.

I really like the curve at the top of the window.  The color and distressed look of the frame matches other pieces of furniture in my home.

C is for Canna

One of the plants that grow so wonderfully in our yard is the CANNA Ferrandii.  The Canna plant is considered part of the lily family but not really a lily.

See the beautiful CONTRAST of my CANNA against the white siding on our home.

I think the bloom is a beautiful color--between a red and an orange.

Some gardening sites recommend you dig up  the bulbs and store over the winter but I have NEVER done this and they come back beautiful every summer.

Loving the lake

We spent 4 glorious days on the lake in July at my sisters home. Beautiful sun shiny days  and plenty of heat to keep you dipping in the water.

The grands loved the ski doos and the tube.

He actually only got thrown off once!!

Daughter doing the driving.

We tried a little fishing.

A lot of floating.

Noodles are so much fun!!

A cool evening ride.

We also celebrated our daughters birthday, she asked Aunt Debbie for a peach cobbler.

A perfect way to end our last day there.

Summer break ends here for Kansas students on August 12th.  We are getting geared up to buy school supplies and some special outfits.

Little blues

In a quaint little gift shop on vacation I found some pieces for my fairy garden.

A darling little banner!

A little blue bridge--aluminum foil acts as water.

These two little blue pieces are metal so should hold up very well.

My A word is Aquarium.  After visiting the Scott Aquarium in the Omaha Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska last week I have plenty of pictures to share.

Hardy, Arkansas

While in the Ozarks last week I took my Mom and Sister on a little day trip from her house and went to visit Hardy, Arkansas.

Several people had told me that it was a great little town for anyone who liked going to shop for antiques or junk with old buildings to enjoy.

We spent five hours and that was enough to take in a great lunch, treats and shop.

My Mom enjoying the center courtyard garden.

Sis posing in front of one of the shops.

We ate at the "Pig N Whistle" Restaurant.

The restaurant is run by a couple of chefs who met while working on a cruise ship.  Her being from Hardy, Arkansas and him from Liverpool, England. They were married and opened this restaurant in Hardy.

My sister had the fish and chips and I had a beef, potato pastie.  Wonderful.

The queen stands in the foyer.

Pictures of several of the buildings and shops.

The above was my favorite--lots of old metal wheels, buckets and everything else.

They had a shop for any interest.

We topped of the day with an ice cream cone from "Hatties"

What a fun town to visit.
