PINK SATURDAY ---"I'M TICKLED PINK!!!!!! MY FIRST PUBLISHED BOOK

http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/

I'm joining Bevery today with a special post to me!!!

I'M TICKLED PINK

I have published my first book.  I just had the first year of my blogging put into print.  I joined SharedBooks and had this beautiful book published.

The book is 244 pages.  It is a paperback book, but the pages are nice and study.  The colors came out beautiful.  I have copied the front and back covers, the first page and the contents for you to see.

After looking through my book, it has SO MUCH family history, tells what I love and my feelings as a mom, grandmother, wife sister and friend.  What better way to preserve this blogging experience for our family.

I am much more thoughtful now about how and what I post for the next book!!!

My first post on January 20

I did NOT print any of the comments from friends, just the blogs.

This has given me so much confidence, I have been wanting to write childrens books and I have started that  as of 2011!!!

Hip, Hip Hooray!!

Have a great pink saturday.

Vintage Thingie Thursday - Flour Sacks

http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/

I've been finishing up a few projects this week and I covered a pillow with one of my vintage flour sacks.  I'm always looking for Kansas vintage pieces.  Found this flour sack a few months ago on ebay.

Last week I found this great flour sack at an antique store here.  I'll probably get 4 pillows from this one.

Have a wonderful creative vintage thingie thursday.

Outdoor Wednesday - "The Road To Damascus"

http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ Linking with Susan today at A Southern Daydreamer.

Our family over the years has taken many many trips to Southern Missouri.  My family is all from there and several still live there.  We also took many trips to the lakes at Branson and Lake of the Ozarks.

When my daughter was 7 or 8 on one of our trips she spotted this sign on the highway.  It says "Damascus" and points to an exit.  She says "Daddy ---look it's the "Road to Damascus".

We have thought of this many times and have been so delighted that at an early age she had been taught that the "Road to Damascus" is a VERY SPECIAL PLACE.

This weekend we were traveling for my sisters birthday party and spotted this sign.  I had been meaning to take a picture for  a long time. This time I caught it in time......

I'm glad I have it in print, instead of just memory.  Someday she can show her grandchildren.

Have a super Outdoor Wednesday everyone.

Tabletop Tuesday - Fabulous Party Tables

http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/
This is my first posting with Marty at A Stroll Thru Life.

My two sisters Deb @http://thepaintsplash.blogspot.com/, Lori and I gave our sister Katy a 60 surprise Birthday Party this weekend.

There are so many fantastic pictures of the party, but I am just going to share the table tops.

Katy LOVES to do the puzzles where you "find the words".  We created the puzzle with all of the things Katy loves--purses, Walmart, bible, receipes, coupons, dancing, singing.  It was so neat, we printed sheets off and on each table, one of the sheets was displayed in a cute holder.  We also had lots of balloons and candy on the table.

We had lots of yummy food and a gorgeous cake that Deb made---she will showcase that.

We had around 75-80 people.  We had a dollar dance, opening all of her gifts and lots of family laughter.

Have a great week.

Vintage Thingie Thursday

http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/

Today I'm featuring a few of my metal baskets and a little vintage fashion!

Remember the days - girls with the green (ours was) gym suits? OH MY they we're NOT flattering. This would have been in the 1960's.

We had a locker room where we changed into  these outfits,  put our clothes into a metal basket and then used a combination lock.  I ALWAYS had trouble with the combination. Don't know why!!!!

Well I found an old locker basket at a sale and use it for magazines in my living room.

The locker number was engraved on the metal plate.

WE WON'T EVEN talk about the hugh shower room!!!!

Also this is one of my metal baskets.  I have a couple of my vintage books displayed.

Happy vintage shopping.

White Wednesday

Sharing some whites today from my home.

This is a display I did for the top of my bookshelves.  It sits at the end of the main hallway.

I used one of my vintage birdcages, our letter C for our last name, a pineapple finial, little white china shoe and a book.

All white vignettes have been popular for awhile, but I'm noticing a resurgance lately.

Have a great day.

Blue Monday - Brag book

http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/

Crafting a little Saturday, saw this really cute idea in a craft book.

Many of our billfolds do not have room for pictures of our kiddo's because of all the necessary cards, like drivers license-ect.  So I made this brag book to carry in my purse.

Your use baseball card covers (hard plastic).  Use scrapbook paper as the backgrounds, add stickers or embelishments after mounting your photo.  Punch  holes with hole puncher and insert a metal ring.  I also added a few ribbons to the ring.  I plan on putting more pics of the rest of us too.

Couldn't resist posting this get well card my hubby is sending a friend. I't Maxine:

Well I like you all------Have a great BLUE MONDAY.

Spiritul Sundays - What label are you wearing

I recently attended our annual choir retreat at the Great Wolf Lodge here.  It was a 2-day seminar and full of wonderful worhip music, teaching and communion.

Our speakers entitled their ministry time on " What label are you wearing". What a fantastic lesson.

We live by labels, whether we know it or not.

Have you heard the prase "The label makes the clothes?"

Labels give information-- quality, design, appearance, longivity to name a few.
A label is a piece of paper or fabic attached to an object giving information about the product.

Spirtually speaking we all have labels we are suppose to be wearing.

GOD HAS A SERIOUS CLOTHING LINE FOR US TO WEAR, IT NEVER WEARS OUT!

Isaiah 61: 10-11
He dressed me up in suit of salvation
He outfitted me in a robe of righteousness

HE IS THE MASTER DESIGNER!

Hope this touches you where you live, it sure did me.

Pink Saturday - Crafting with netting and Healthy eating

http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/
What pink gems do we have today? Beverly always has so much for all of us girls.

Have you ever looked for a soft netting and only needed a small amount for a trim for clothing or a craft project but it only came in bolts?
I discovered a way to find netting much cheaper.

Enter the loufa or bath net (is there a proper name).

When you take this apart you end up with 82" of the perfect size trim. Around 4 to 5 inches in width.
And they come in the greatest colors.

For what.... .99 cents  you get a great piece of netting to work with.

I  also want to feature a book I have been following for the past 6 weeks.  I have changed my eating "lifestyle".  This author Dr. Mike Moreno has written this diet book and he has discovered a way to confuse our metabolism and keep us loosing and not reaching a plateau!!!

There are 4 phases - each phase consists of 17 days. Each phase you add more foods so your body learns to control portions and types of foods.    My hubby has lost 20 and I have lost 10 lbs.

I

The book is NOT available in bookstores only on-line at the 17 Day Diet Website.

Have yourself a great pink saturday.

Vintage Thingie Thursday - 1922 Space Heater

http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/

Linking up today with Vintage Thingie Thursday, I've had this heater in storage for ages.  I was going to use it on my sun porch originally.  We have decided to put it on our new deck when finished, we will run a gas line to it and use it on chilly nights.

The Wheeler Company who made this started in 1890 in West Virginia.  They are still in business but have expanded and merged with another company.  There is a location here in Lenexa, Kansas.

This model was patented in 1922.  The lava grates are still all in tact.  I love the claw feet, and the design of the heater.

Have a good day.
